Glenties Notes on December 18th 2003

Congratulations to the Glenties Comprehensive School Ladies Under-16 GAA team who recently won the County Final in Donegal Town.

The death took place at his home on Saturday 6th December 2003 of John Gallagher, Ardun, Glenties. His remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Monday 8th. Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir assisted by Fr. Adrian Gavigan celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by John Mc Loone and Helen Flannery. Laura O’Malley, Shane and Gerard Molloy, Shauna and Patrick Gallagher, grandnieces and grandnephews of John read Prayers of the Faithful. The Gifts were brought to the Altar by John’s nephews, Joe Gallagher and Peter Kennedy. Music and singing was by Cliona Heena. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. John is survived by one sister, Monica Kennedy, Narin Road, Glenties and two brothers Paddy and James U.S.A. nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. He was predeceased by three sisters, Bridie on the 9th October last and also Molly and Rosie.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Tony Mc Ginley, Largnalarkin, who died on Monday 1st December 2003 and was buried in Fintown Graveyard on Wednesday after Requiem Mass in St. Colmcille’s Church

Sincere sympathy is extended to Noel Conefry, Mill Road, Glenties on the death of his brother Walter Conefry, Drogheda, which took place in Drogheda on Sunday 7th December 2003.

Sincere sympathy is extended to John Mc Cool, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties on the death of his uncle Fr. Colm Mulligan, which took place recently in Texas.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Paddy Hanlon and Annie Barrett, Maas, Glenties on the recent deaths of their brother and sister, Eddie Hanlon, Lettermacaward and Eileen Smith, Convoy.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Brendan and Patsy Gallagher, Ardconnell and Barney O’ Haire, Derries, Glenties on the death of their uncle, Peter Mc Gill, Laconnell, Ardara, which took place recently in Killybegs Community Hospital.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Frank Moran, Bundoran and formerly of Westport, Co. Mayo, who died recently in Sligo Hospital. Frank served as a Garda in Clogher and as a Sergeant in Glenties for a short time in the early 1950s.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Joe Coyle, Edeninfagh, Glenties, who died on Friday 12th December 2003.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Mary Cannon, Letterkenny, (formerly Campbell, Silverhill, Glenties) who died last week in Letterkenny.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Pat Kennedy, Gortnasillagh, Glenties on the death of his sister Mary O’Donnell, Dungloe, which took place last week.

Sincere sympathy is extended to relatives and friends of Francie Houston, The Rock, Glenties who died on Sunday last.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Tony McGinley, Largnalarkin, who died on Monday 1st December 2003 and was buried in Fintown graveyard on Wednesday after Requiem Mass in St. Colmcille’s Church.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of John Gallagher, Ardun, Glenties who died on Saturday 6th December 2003.

Donegal will play the Rest of Ireland in a Charity Match in aid of “Romanian Orphanage Appeal” in Naomh Chonaill Club Grounds on Saturday 20th December and the game will be followed by a fund-raising dance. This is a once-off charity event and we appeal to all to assist this worthy cause. Support by businesses in the form of sponsorship would be much appreciated. Congratulations to Danny and Rose McGill, Glen Road, Glenties, who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last week.

John Glynn and Bridget Cunningham were married in the Church of St. Giles, Prague on Saturday 22nd November 2003. John is a son of Michael and Rosemary Glynn, Stranaglough, Glenties and Bridget is a daughter of Pat and Anne Cunningham, Co. Kilkenny. Kristian Glynn, brother of the groom was bestman and Claire Hotchin, friend of the bride was bridesmaid. The honeymoon was spent in Scotland.

Congratulations to Ronan Cranley who graduated recently from Dublin Institute of Technology with a B. Sc. Hons. Degree in Computer Science. Ronan is a son of Tim and Anne Cranley, Mill Road, Glenties.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Nora Mc Glynn, Ballinamore, Fintown who died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar on Friday 28th November 2003. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown on Monday and burial took place afterwards in the adjoining Graveyard.
