Glenties Notes on February 26th 2004

Derek Byrne and Sandra Cannon were married in St. Cartha’s Church, Kilcar on Saturday 14th February 2004. Fr. John Gallagher P.P. Kilcar assisted by Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. Glenties officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Derek is a son of Gerry and Bried Byrne, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Sandra is a daughter of Michael and Anna Cannon, Kilcar. Her father gave the bride away and her sisters, Fiona Boyle and Joanne Cannon and her cousin; Leanne O’Donnell attended her. Pat Ward, uncle of the groom was bestman. John Boyle, brother-in-law of the bride and a friend, Kieran Hegarty were groomsmen. Odhran Byrne Gildea, nephew of the groom was pageboy. Readings were by Trina Mc Shane a friend and the groom’s sister Riaghan Byrne. Dee Lyons, friend, Deirdre Keaveney, aunt and Godmother of the groom. Damien Craig, friend and Michael Cannon, brother of the bride read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Blue Haven, Kilcar and the honeymoon was spent in the Carribean.

Congratulations to Caroline Deacy, Ballina and formerly of Glen Road, Glenties and Trevor Giles (Meath County Footballer) who were married recently in Ballina. Caroline’s Dad was a Superintendent of the Garda Siochana here in Glenties for a number of years.

Congratulations to Sr. Anne Mc Loone, who was awarded one of this year’s County Council / REHAB ‘People of the Year Awards’. Sr. Anne is from Main Street, Glenties.

Congratulations to Edwina and Martin Doherty, Loughcrillan, Glenties on the birth in Letterkenny Hospital on Tuesday 17th February 2004 of their first child, a baby boy.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Connie Mc Dermott, Main Street and James Mc Dermott, Meenahalla, Glenties on the death of their brother, Paddy, which took place in London on Wednesday 18th February 2004.

John Mc Dyre and Una Boyle were married in the Church of St. Conal and St. Joseph, Bruckless on Saturday 7th February 2004. Fr. John Mc Loone P.P. Frosses assisted by Fr. Mc Shane P.P. Bruckless officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. John is a son of Packie and Annie Mc Dyre, Derries, Glenties and Una is a daughter of Michael and Rose Boyle, Bruckless. Her father gave the bride away and her sister, Fiona Boyle and her friend, Sinead Furey were her bridesmaids. James Mc Dyre, brother of the groom was bestman and another brother, Conal was groomsman. Readings were by Lisa Quinn, niece of the groom and a friend, Colm Mc Nicholas. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in Harvey’s Point, Donegal and the honeymoon was spent in the Caribbean.

Congratulations to Derek Byrne, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Sandra Cannon, Kilcar, who were married in Kilcar on St. Valentine’s Day.

Congratulations to Siobhan O’ Donnell, New York, (formerly Ard Patrick, Glenties) and her husband Tyrone, who were also married on St. Valentine’s Day in New York.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Anne Furey, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties, on the death of her aunt, Maggie Gallagher, Glengesh, which took place recently in Killybegs Hospital.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Rosaleen Mc Nelis, Dorrian, Glenties on the death of her sister, Margaret Armstrong, which took place in Los Angeles on 7th February 2004.

60 YEARS MARRIED
Congratulations to John and Bridget Hegarty, Meenalargan, Glenties, who celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Monday 9th February.

Eibhlin Mc Callig and Damian Monaghan were married in the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh, Glenties on Saturday 7th February 2004. Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir assisted by Canon Patrick Marron officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Eibhlin is a daughter of John and Mary Ann Mc Callig, Edeninfagh and Damian is from Fiontana, Co. Tyrone. Pat Mc Callig, brother of the bride gave her away. Her sister Mary Mc Inerney was matron of honour and her niece Karen Mc Inerney was bridesmaid. Gerard Monaghan, brother of the groom was bestman and another brother, Ted was groomsman. Readings were by Sarah Mc Inerney and Bridget Mc Carney. Catherine Monaghan and Helen Mc Inerney read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey.

Congratulations to John Mc Dyre, Derries and Una Boyle, Bruckless, who were married in Bruckless on Saturday last.
