Congratulations to Hugo and Anna Mc Dyer, Main St. Glenties who celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Tuesday 16th August.

Congratulations to Hugh and Mary Ita Boyle, Glen Road, Glenties who celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Tuesday 16th August.

Congratulations to Dermot and Patricia Hegarty, Station Road, Glenties who celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary on Tuesday 16th August.

On Saturday 6th August 2005 Stephen Boyce and Nicole Walsh were married in Rockwell College Chapel, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. Fr. Jack Meade officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Stephen is a son of John and Bridie Walsh, Mullinamina, Glenties and Nicole is a daughter of Eileen and the late Noel Walsh, Cahir, Co. Tipperary. Her brother Richard gave the bride away and the bridesmaids were her friends, Emma Boles and Hilary Kavanagh. Shaun Boyce, brother of the groom was bestman and a friend of the groom Brendan Mc Carthy was groomsman. Readings were by Claire Boyce, sister of the groom and Emmet Connolly, friend of the bride. Laura and Ann Boyce, sisters of the groom, Brian O’Flynn and Nick Reading read Prayers of the Faithful. The reception was held in Raheen House Hotel, Clonmel and the honeymoon is being spent in Australia.

Rose-Marie Monahan and Timothy Rochester came from England to Glenties to be married in St. Connell’s Church on Saturday 6th August 2005. The bride is a daughter of Mary and the late Jim Monahan, Wembley and granddaughter of the late Packie and Bridie Mc Nelis, Gatehouse, Altar Road, Glenties and the groom is a son of Alan and Teresa Rochester, Gateshead. Fr. Joseph Shonibare assisted by Fr. Chris Warren and Fr. Sean Flannery officiated and concelebrated Nuptial Mass. Deacon Phillip Connor read the Gospel. Her brother Patrick gave the bride away and her sister Erin Monahan, her cousin, Rachael Lourie and her friends, Sarah Lavelle and Alison Roberts attended her. Simon Rochester a brother of the groom was bestman and Liam O’Connor was groomsman. Stephen Long and Julian Powell were ushers. Readings and Psalm were by Sarah Lourie, Anne Deasy and Liam Cahalin. Julia Lourie and Holly Hogan read Prayers of the Faithful. Tom & Katie Winters, Christine Monahan, and Megan Mc Nelis brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Blue Haven and the honeymoon is being spent in Switzerland.

The death took place in England of Frank O’ Donnell, formerly of Mullinamina, Glenties on Friday 12th August 2005. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife, Annie (nee Mc Glynn, formerly of Ard Patrick, Glenties) his two daughters, Mary and Joan, his brother Joe, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His brother John died last November. Three other brothers, Patrick, Phoncie and Hugh and two sisters Kathleen Gildea and Mary Bonner also predeceased him.

The Raphoe Pilgrimage to Knock will take place next Saturday 20th August. A bus will be leaving Glenties that morning. For further information ring Mc Guinness’ at 074 – 9551284.

Congratulations to Yvonne and Hugo Doherty, Station Road, Glenties on the birth recently of their second child, a baby brother (Oran) for Karla.

Congratulations to Teresa and Seamus Mc Kelvey, Currien, Fintown on the birth recently of their fourth child a baby sister for James, Oisin and Michael.

Congratulations to Stephen Boyce, Mullinamina, Glenties and Nicole Walsh, Tipperary who were married in Tipperary on Saturday 6th August.

On Friday 29th July 2005 Leah Mc Hugh and Brendan Mc Nelis were married in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties. Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Leah is a daughter of Dermot and Nora Mc Hugh, Tullyhoniver, Glenties and Brendan is a son of John and Teresa Mc Nelis, Ardconnell, Ardara. Her father gave the bride away and her sisters, Dervla and Andrea Mc Hugh and her cousin Julie Mc Cormack were her bridesmaids. Fergal Heena, friend of the groom was bestman and two other friends, Stephen Watters and Martin Mc Nelis were groomsmen. Chloe Mc Hugh was a flowergirl and Ben Gallagher was a pageboy. Readings were by the bride’s father, Dermot and the groom’s cousin, Conal Cannon. Stephen, Lorraine and Chloe Mc Hugh, Shauna and Carol Mc Nelis and Mary Melly read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. Singing was by Barry Keeney and Cliona Heena accompanied by Nessa Molloy. The reception was held in the Blue Haven and the honeymoon was spent in Rome.

Due to an undetected technical problem the book ‘Brighter Days in Donegal’ by Colm Melly was in an unsatisfactory condition. It has been temporarily withdrawn from sale in order to have the problem rectified. The printer wishes to apologise to Colm for any embarrassment caused and the book will be back on sale in the near future. Anyone who has purchased a book will have it replaced free of charge shortly.

A Retirement Presentation Dance for Jimmy Mc Kelvey and Tommy Kerrigan will be held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Saturday 20th August 2005. Music is by “No Fences”. Dinner will be served at 8.30p.m. sharp. Tickets are 20 Euro and are available at the Highlands Hotel.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mary, Jimmy and Patrick Campbell, Main St. Glenties on the death of their uncle, Brother John Campbell, which took place in Dublin last week; also to all the relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to John Mc Dyer, Maas, Glenties on the death of his sister Sarah Mc Manus, which took place recently in England.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Mary Glenn (formerly Mc Cahill, Loughnacruiche, Glenties) who died in England recently.

On Saturday 23rd July 2005 Jane MacGrory and Noel Kelly were married in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties. Fr. Pat Prendergast, P.P. Glenties assisted by Fr. Francis Mc Loone Adm. Letterkenny officiated and concelebrated Nuptial Mass. Jane is a daughter of Eamon and Yvonne MacGrory, Kilraine, Glenties and Noel is a son of Sean and Roisin Kelly, Letterkenny. Her father gave the bride away and her sister Donna MacGrory and a friend, Ann Patton were her bridesmaids. Patrick Patton, friend of the groom was bestman and Rory O’ Boyle another friend was groomsman. Gabrielle and Hayley Crossan were flowergirls and Cian Arthur and Nathan Mc Dyer were pageboys. Mark MacGrory was an usher. Readings were by Michelle Mc Dyer, cousin of the bride and Siobhan Sweeney, sister of the groom. Cian Arthur and Conor Sweeney read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music was by Pat and John F. O’Donnell. The reception was held in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny and the honeymoon was spent in Croatia.

The Tidy Town Committee wish to sincerely thank everyone who co-operated or helped in any way with our Entente Florale effort this year. Everyone should be proud of their own efforts and the great effort made by the whole community working together. We also wish to remind everyone that Tidy Town Adjudicators are expected to visit us in the next few weeks for their final visit. Keep your local area litter free.

The Committee Members of the Ard Patrick Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Michael Quinn, Brendan O’Donnell, Ann Edel Ward, Noreen Mc Guinness, Margaret Mc Nelis, Joe Craig and Patsy Furey would like to thank everyone who helped to make the Golden Jubilee Celebrations a “roaring success”.
