Glenties Notes 14th November 2014

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Gerry Byrne and family Ard Patrick, Glenties, on the sudden death of Gerry’s niece, Diane Byrne, Bunamin, Annagry, which took place at her home on Wednesday 5th November 2014; sincere sympathy also to Diane’s parents, Dee and Noreen and to her sister, Andrea, aunts, uncles, and all other relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Bella Mc Gill, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties on the death recently of her sister, Sally Cunningham, Glasgow; and to Patsy Martin, Church Road, Glenties on the death of his aunt and to all other relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Agnes Harvey, Donegal Town on the death of her husband, Frank Harvey, on Saturday 8th November 2014; sincere sympathy also to his daughters and to all other relatives and friends. Frank, a native of Enniskillen, and his family spent a number of years in Glenties when he worked in the Bank before being transferred to Donegal Town. He was well known as a poet and playwright.

Glenties Parish Social:
The Christmas Parish Social will take place on Sunday 7th December in the Highlands Hotel, commencing at 3.00 p.m. with Mass. A warm welcome is extended to all our Senior Citizens. The Committee will appreciate any Donations or Raffle Prizes towards the running costs of the event.

Shop Local:
Glenties Community Action Group will once again provide a showcase for all our local businesses by holding a ‘Shop local Day’ at the Highlands Hotel on Sunday 16th November from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This showcase will present what Glenties has to offer the shopper, as we approach the busy Christmas shopping period. Participating businesses will be able to promote their products. Don’t miss this opportunity to see what your town has to offer, including discounts and vouchers and remember ‘Shop local’.

Powerhour Kettlebell Toning Programme:
Powerhour Kettlebell Toning Programme is starting on Thursday 13th November for five weeks from 7-8 p.m. in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties. Please contact Martina 086 3846302 to reserve your place. Beginners welcome.

Bingo Winners:
The winners at the Bingo on Tuesday 4th November in the Community Centre, Glenties were – €50 Winners – Carmel Mc Hugh, Kathleen Boyle, Denise Maguire, Ann Quinn, John Mc Loone, Mary Gazley, Amanda O’Conner, Kathleen Keeney, Kitty Mc Glynn, Donal Brennan, Denise Mc Guire, Ann Quinn, Bernadette Gallagher, Carmel Mc Hugh, Philomena Mc Callig and Mary Gazley; €100 Winners – Philomena Mc Callig, Mary Gallagher, Sadie Sweeney, Bernie Martin, Breege Roarty, Bernie Martin, Patsy Martin and Terence Breslin; €150 Winners – Maggie Bonner and Bernie Fitzpatrick.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo held in Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.

Snooker:
Snooker room is open Monday to Friday from 4pm to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m

Tai Chi:
Tai Chi every Wednesday night 8 p.m. -9.30 p.m.

New CE Scheme:
New CE scheme started on 22nd September 2014, any one willing to start contact 087 9695053 for more details. FAS criteria apply.

Bowls:
Bowls every Monday night.

Drama Classes:
Vanessa Mc Fadden children’s drama classes started Thursday 6th November 2014 from 5 p.m. -7 p.m.
