Glenties Notes 16th March 2011

New Arrival
Congratulations to Lorraine and Raymond Brennan, Station Road, Glenties on the birth recently of their third child, a baby brother (Thomas) for Annie and Sophie.

Bingo
Winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 8th March were – John Boyle won the Jackpot of € 400. Isobel Mc Loone, Nora Gallagher, Bridie Boyle, Rosemary Whelan, Anna Cannon, Christine Mc Cool. Kathy Connell and Patricia White won € 100 each. Sally Mc Guigan, Cathy Connell, Annie Deane, Kilcar, Rosaleen Gallagher, Annie Deane, Kilcar, Kathleen Mc Glynn, Bridie Gallagher and Martina Hanlon won € 50 each. Anne Kennedy, Patsy Martin, P. Sweeney, Timlin O’Dochartaigh, Maura Kilbane, Marie Boyle, Breid Brennan and Maggie O’ Donnell won € 25 each. Peter Sweeney, Martina Hanlon and Philomena Mc Callig won € 20 each

The Late Sean Boyle
The death took place at his home on Tuesday 1st March 2011 of Sean Boyle, Ard Patrick, Glenties. His remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday morning. Fr. Pat Prendergast assisted by Fr. Gerard Cunningham (cousin of Sean’s) concelebrated Requiem Mass at 11.00 a.m. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by John F. and Pat O’ Donnell. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Sean is survived by his wife, Una, sons, John and Cartha, daughters, Michelle and Elaine, grandchildren, brothers, Cara, Benny and Eamonn, sisters, Annette and Nora, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. He was predeceased by his brother Josie on the Saturday previous to his own death February 26th. Another brother, Donal and sister Celine also predeceased him.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to Ronan Molloy, Mill Road, Glenties on the death of his mother, Marie Molloy, Drumbarron, Ardara, which took place on Saturday 12th March 2011 in Letterkenny Hospital; also to all the relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Teresa Gallagher, Meenahalla and Paper Stop, Main St. Glenties on the sudden death of her father, Donnelly Duffy, New Mills, Letterkenny, which took place last Saturday 12th March 2011; also to all the relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Annie O’Donnell, Meenahalla, Glenties, who died in Killybegs Hospital on Monday 14th March 2011. Annie was 103 years old.

Glenties Community Centre
Bingo takes place every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Every line € 50; every house € 100; Jackpot € 400. Doors open at 8.30 p.m. Two Snooker Tables available to play 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. each night except Tuesday. Thank you for your continued support of Glenties Community Centre.

Country Music Night
There will be a Country Music Night in the Highlands Hotel on Friday 1st April from 10 p.m. – 12 midnight. Music is by Shaun Mc Monagle.

Dance Classes
Dance Classes in Jiving, Fox Trot, Quick Step and Waltz are taking place in the Highlands Hotel on Monday nights from 8p.m. – 10 p.m. Teacher is Seamus Melvin from Mayo.

Community Employment Scheme
A place has become available on a Community Employment Scheme in the Glenties Area. Fás criteria apply. Enquiries – email glentiescommunitycentre@yahoo.ie

Fintown Festival
Feile na Finne is on this year from the 3rd to the 6th of June. The launch of the festival Mayor / Mayoress campaign takes place next Saturday 19th March in the Noble Bar.

Scoil Mhuire Enrolment Day
Enrolment Day at Scoil Mhuire, Glenties for school year 2011-2012 will take place on Thursday 31st March between1:15- 3:00 pm. All incoming pupils are welcome to visit at this time, to see their new classroom for next year and perhaps meet a friend or two. Parents, please bring Birth and Baptismal Certificates, PPS Number, Medical card number and e-mail address, thank you. We look forward to seeing you on the 31st.
