Glenties Notes 17th March 2008
Sincere sympathy is extended to Daisy Sweeney and family, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties on the death last week of Daisy’s brother Joe Browne, Crossroads, Killygordan.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Fr. Paul Gallagher C.C. Glenties on the death of his aunt, Sheila Rutherford, Falcarragh, which took place last week.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Bella Mc Gill, Main Street, Glenties on the recent death of her grandson, Colin Mc Gill, Orpington, Kent; also to his wife, Kelly, children, Danny, Jeannie and Sonny, his parents, James and Mary, sister, Nicola and all his relatives and friends.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Maureen Kennedy and family, Letterilly, Glenties on the death of Maureen’s father, John Mc Bride, Creeslough, which took place last week.
Holy Thursday – Mass of Chrism will be celebrated in St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny at 11.00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
St. Connell’s Church, Glenties – Holy Thursday – Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper – 7.30p.m. Good Friday – The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion – 3.00p.m. Holy Saturday – The Easter Vigil Mass – 9.00p.m. Candles will be provided for use during this ceremony. The 11.00a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday 23rd March will be celebrated as the Family Mass, for which the children of the Parish will prepare the Liturgy.

Candles will be provided for use during the Service of Light.
It will be 50 years this year since Glenties first won the Tidy Towns Competition and it is hoped to mark this occasion with some celebrations. The committee are looking for memorabilia relating to the last 50 years, e.g. newspaper cuttings, photos, etc. Items can be given to Mary Thompson or left into The Highlands Hotel. We would appreciate everyone getting involved in the upkeep of buildings and surrounding areas.
There will be a disco for all primary school children on Saturday 22nd March from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in the Afterschool Building, Glen Road, Glenties (across from Scoil Mhuire). Admission is 5 Euro per child. A Tuck Shop will be open where children can buy goodies. All proceeds will go towards Barnardos. Everyone is welcome. Please come along and support this good cause.
A Monster Bingo will take place in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 25th March. Doors will open at 7.30p.m. Single Books are 20 Euro and Double Books are 30 Euro. Jackpot Sheet is 5 Euro. Prizes are – Games 1 – 5 – Line – 100 Euro and House – 400 Euro. Jackpot – Line – 300 Euro and House – 3,000 Euro. Games 6 – 10 – Line 100 Euro and House – 500 Euro. Your support would be much appreciated.
The Parents Committee of St. Riaghan’s N.S. Drimnacrosh are holding a Cake Sale in the Community Centre, Glenties after the 11 a.m. Family Mass on Easter Sunday.
