Glenties Notes 18th March 2009

Cathal Mc Dyer
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Monday 2nd March 2009 of Cathal Mc Dyer, Kilraine, Glenties. His remains were brought to his home on Tuesday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Thursday morning. Fr. Pat Prendergast assisted by Fr. John Mc Loone and Fr. Philip Daly concelebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by his sister Bernie Maxwell and his son-in-law Dom Mallatratt. His sisters, Patricia Connolly, Irene Jones Yvonne Mc Groary and his daughter-in-law Sally Mc Dyer read Prayers of the Faithful. The Gifts were brought to the Altar by his grandsons, Michael and Tom. Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’Donnell. Burial took place in Kilraine Graveyard. Cathal is survived by his wife, Julie, sons, Andrew and Sean and daughter, Tracy, grandsons, Cathal, Kieran, Matthew, Michael and Tom, sisters, Deirdre Doherty, Yvonne Mc Groary, Patricia Connolly, Bernie Maxwell, Stella Quinn, Caroline Mc Hugh, Angela Shelly and Irene Jones, brothers, Enda, Hugh and Alec, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His twin brother, Leonard predeceased him in 1961 and his sister, Margaret died as a baby. Cathal spent a good part of his life in England before returning with his wife Julie and son Sean to his native Kilraine some years ago.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Jimmy Mc Gill, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties who died on Wednesday 11th March.

Bingo
Bingo winners on Tuesday 10th March in the Community Centre, Glenties were – Anne Quinn won the Jackpot € 400. R. Melly, Rooskey, Brenda Heron, Ardara, Liz Buckley, Fintown, Ann Mc Kenna, Keeney, Kathleen Boyle, Kilclooney and Bridie Doherty, Glenties won € 100 each. Maria Boyle, Clooney, Rose Molloy, Din Melly, Anne Furey, Ard Mc Gill, Anne Molloy, Fintown, May Kennedy, Bella mc Gill, Glenties, Gerry Doherty, Fintown and Isabella Mc Loone, Mill Road won € 50 each. Annie Dean, Kilcar and Rosaleen Gallagher, Ardara won € 25 each.

Mass for Mother’s Day
Scoil Mhuire is having a Mass in the Chapel tomorrow Friday 20th March at 11.00a.m. to celebrate Mother’s Day. Everyone is welcome.

Thanks
The organisers of the Pub Quiz held recently in the Glen Tavern, in aid of The Alzheimer Society would like to thank all who took part, and also those who kindly donated Spot Prizes – Mary Quinn, Glen Tavern, Pat Molloy, Bacon Factory, Frank Connaghan, Builder, Alan Kee, Butcher, Gareth O’Donnell, Chemist and Ann O’ Donnell, Ardconnell. €480 was raised. The Donegal Branch of The Alzheimer’s Society wish to thank everyone who contributed and helped out in the recent collection. The amount collected was €764.45. Thank You.

The Donegal Branch of The Diabetes Federation wishes to thank everyone who contributed to their recent Church Gate Collection in Edeninfagh. The amount raised was € 152.64.

Message from Scoil Mhuire
We are having a ‘Cash for Clobber’ collection here in Scoil Mhuire on Thursday 26th March. We are collecting unwanted clothing, paired shoes, hats, scarves, handbags, belts, curtains and linens. The money from this collection will go towards our Computer Fund, as many of our computers ‘are out of date’. We would greatly appreciate your kind support. Collection
The Church Gate Collection next weekend is in aid of Inspire – supporting Donegal Cancer Patients, Letterkenny Unit.

Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties by Bishop Philip Boyce on Sunday 29th March.

Pilgrimage to Medjugorje
