Glenties Notes 1st August 2013

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Elizabeth Mc Dyre and family, Maas, Glenties on the death recently of Elizabeth’s father, Peter Burns, Annagry.

Bingo:
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 23rd July 2013 were – € 25 winners – Cathy Connell, Mary Kennedy, Margaret Reilly and Margaret Gillespie; € 50 Winners – Paddy Harkin, Bernadette McDevitt, Mary McGeehan, Lisa Boyle, Sally McHugh, Fiona Boyle, Margaret Gallagher, Jamsie Byrne, Michael Langan, Teresa McKelvey, Evelyn Whyte, Annie McGlynn and May Kennedy; € 60 Winner – Breege Roarty; €100 Winners – Caitriona Gallagher, Marian Ward, Patrick McHugh, Kay McCarthy, Roisin Harkin, Marie Boyle, Sandra Byrne and Mary Gallagher; € 300 Winner – Paula Hegarty.

Mass in Rossnowlagh:
A bus will leave Mc Guinness’ Café at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday 6th August and every first Tuesday for Mass in Rossnowlagh. The organisers wish to make an appeal for more people to join them.

Naomh Conaill 5K:
The Naomh Conaill 5k Run / Walk will take place on Friday 9th August at 7 p.m. starting from the Clubhouse. Come out and support your local Club by running / walking or take along the buggy. Small kids are welcome to take their bikes to cycle along with a walker. Registration is from 6 p. m. There is ample parking and full changing / shower facilities. Tea and refreshments will be served immediately after the run / walk. A bouncy castle will also be on site to keep the children busy. Entry fee is € 8 for Adults and € 3 for under 16’s.

Edeninfagh Graveyard Mass:
Mass will be celebrated in Edeninfagh Graveyard on Sunday 11th August at 3 p.m.

Water Safety Weeks at Narin / Portnoo:
Irish Water Safety Weeks 2013 ~ this year there will be two Water Safety Swim Weeks held in Narin – Portnoo. The dates are 29th July to 2nd August and 5th to 9th August. Swim Classes will take place at Narin Strand, and Water Safety Classes will be held off the Pier in Portnoo. Everyone is welcome for what is always a great experience of sea swimming, with excellent instructors, and good opportunity for young people to work for another Water Safety Badge. Registration will take place on Monday 29th at 10 a.m. at the beach and all information about times of classes etc. will be given then.

Open day & Car Wash:
Glenties Fire Station- Open Day & Car Wash in aid of The Donegal Hospice. The Fundraising ‘Fun Day’ will take place next Saturday 3rd August, starting at 10 a.m. Adults & Children are most welcome to have a look around the Fire Station, and avail of the Car Wash. All Donations for The Hospice will be gratefully received via a Bucket Collection at The Fire Station.
