Glenties Notes 22nd October 2014

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Bella Mc Gill and family, Main Street, Glenties, on the death on Wednesday 15th October 2014 of Bella’s sister, Peggy Rooney, College Farm Road, Letterkenny; (formerly O’Donnell, Mullinamina, Glenties), also to Peggy’s family and all other relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended and to Eamonn Boyle, Meenalargan, Glenties on the death of his sister, Mamie Kennedy, Ard Conal, Ardara, which took place on Thursday 16th October 2014; also to Mamie’s family and all other relatives and friends.

Glenties Gets Ready for Halloween: Following on from the successful Harvest Fair Festival we are now busily preparing for the annual Halloween celebrations on the October Bank Holiday Weekend. The weekend will begin at 4 p.m. for kids, on Friday 24th with Ghost Walks along the spooky roads of Altar in Glenties, and at 7 p.m. for adults. On Saturday 25th the Kids Parade & Halloween Disco takes place in the Community Centre at 4 p.m.; followed at 9 p.m. by the return of the Fireworks Display, so enjoyed last year, with viewing from the Comp. Sports Field, buckets will be available for donations at this event. Then on Sunday 26th the now famous Glenties Halloween Parade and Ball takes centre stage, with the Main Street being overtaken by ghouls and goblins, and the Highlands Hotel being the venue for all the monsters to gather for the Ball. Proceedings begin at 10 p.m.; and a prize fund of € 2,000 is on offer for the best dressed participants and scariest parade floats, so get designing and making now, it’s just a week away and remember – Glenties is the best, and only place, to celebrate your Halloween. Table Quiz:
A Table Quiz in aid of St. Connell’s Museum will take place in Phelan’s Bar on Friday 24th October at 10 p.m.

Church Gate Collection:
The Church Gate Collection for The Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital taken up in Glenties amounted to € 869.40. The Church Gate Collection for The Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital taken up in Edeninfagh amounted to € 83.00. Thanks to all who subscribed to the collections.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo held in Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.

Snooker:
Snooker room is open Monday to Friday from 4pm to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m

Tai Chi:
Tai Chi every Wednesday night 8 p.m -9.30 p.m.

New CE Scheme:
A New CE scheme started on 22nd September 2014, any one willing to start contact 087 9695053 for more details. FAS criteria apply.

Bowls:
Bowls every Monday night.
