Glenties Community Development Group
We are pleased to announce that this year Glenties will be having a parade on St Patrick’s Day – with a twist!  The difference in this year’s parade is that it will take place at 12:01a.m.  Yes, that’s right folks – one minute past midnight which will make it the first parade in Ireland on St Patrick’s Day 2017.  The decision was made to hold the parade at this time as it was proving impossible to secure any marching bands at any other time during the day as they had already been snapped up by other established event holders throughout the county.  We have managed to secure 4 bands and they are delighted with the idea of a midnight parade.  We have a large amount of floats taking part which will all be illuminated together with the marching bands and fancy dress participants for greater effect and in addition we will be turning the town green for the night to create an amazing green extravaganza for everyone.  Your support in such events is always paramount, so get your thinking caps on (green ones preferred) and get involved in what promises to be a big bright green spectacle for all to enjoy!
