Glenties Notes 26th March 2014

Naomh Connaill Membership:
Naomh Conaill GAA Club will hold a Registration Evening in the Clubhouse on Friday 28th March between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Adult – € 40; Youth – € 20; Adult Membership including a year’s entry in the weekly Lotto – € 100; Families with a number of children – € 20 for first two and € 10 for each additional child. 28th March is the last day on which membership can be paid.

The 2 Loves of Gabriel Foley:
On April 5th / 6th Glenties Drama Group bring the hilarious comedy – ‘The 2 Loves of Gabriel Foley’ by Jimmy Keary to the stage of the Community Centre in Glenties. .Gabriel Foley is a middle aged bachelor, who lives with his elderly mother. .She fears she will never get rid of him as he ‘can’t hold on to a women’. Then he falls for Hazel, a man eater, an uppity member of the local Drama Group. Gabriel is out of his depth, can Chrissie, his reliable neighbour who fancies him, save him from a fate worse than death? Add a cast of crazy characters and be prepared for a night of fun and laughter; Just the ticket to cheer us up in these difficult times.

Daffodil Day:
Friday 28th March is Daffodil Day Volunteers will be on the Main Street of Glenties looking for your support for this very worthy cause.

First Holy Communion:
Children from St. Riaghan’s N.S. Drimnacrosh, Kilkenny N.S. and Scoil Mhuire will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday 24th May at 11.00.a.m. Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties.

Children from Edeninfagh will receive their First Holy Communion at 12 Mid- Day Mass on Sunday 11th May.

Confirmation:
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday 18th May at 11.00a.m.

Bingo:
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 16th march 2014 were – € 25 winners – Pauline McGeehan and Patsy Martin; € 50 winners – Micky Herron, Patsy Brown, Majella Boyle, Anne Doherty, Anne McKeown, Fidelma Burke, Jimmy Quinn, Patricia Molloy, Kathleen Cannon, Lisa Coughlin and Hugh Gallagher; €100 winners – Kathleen Boyle, Francis Cunningham, Dim Melly, Winnie Long, Mrs. Monaghan, Anne Kennedy, Rose McGeehan, Sally McHugh, Eileen Gallagher and Kathleen Ferry; € 300 winner – May Kennedy.

Donegal Branch of the Irish Guide Dogs Collection:
The Volunteers of Glenties, Edeninfagh, Fintown and Kilclooney would like to thank everyone who supported their recent collection. The amount raised was € 1,115.00. Thanks to everyone who made a contribution.

St. Vincent de Paul – Uganda Collection:
The St. Vincent de Paul Uganda collection will take place next weekend 29th and 30th March. All proceeds will go to fund educational and agricultural projects. Please give as generously as you can.

Cancer Research Fundraising Night:
A Cancer Research Fundraising Night hosted by Yvonne Campbell will take place in The Glen Tavern – “Dinny’s” on Saturday 29th March at 9.00 p.m. Music is by B & J Sound followed by a Traditional Music Session. All Traditional Musicians are welcome. Spot Prizes will be given out on the night. All proceeds and donations will go to Cancer Research. The organisers appeal to you to support Yvonne in this worthy cause. Permit granted.

Foroige Quiz Night:
A Quiz night in aid of Glenties Foroige Youth Club will be held in the Community Centre, Glenties on Friday 4th April at 8.0 p.m. Please support.
