Glenties Notes 2nd April 2014

Collection:
The Church Gate Collection taken up recently for Cancer Care West amounted to € 777.81. Thank you to everyone for your generosity.

Coffee Morning:
The Family of Martin Mc Dyer, Meenahalla, wish to invite everyone to the Community Centre immediately after Martin’s Month’s Mind Mass on Saturday 5th April, for a Coffee Morning in aid of the Donegal Hospice. Any donation that you would like to make will be given to The Donegal Hospice.

Foroige Quiz Night:
A Quiz night in aid of Glenties Foroige Youth Club will be held in the Community Centre, Glenties this Friday 4th April at 8.00 p.m. Please support.

Glenties Drama Group:
On April 5th / 6th Glenties Drama Group bring the hilarious comedy – ‘The 2 Loves of Gabriel Foley’ by Jimmy Keary to the stage of the Community Centre in Glenties. .Gabriel Foley is a middle aged bachelor, who lives with his elderly mother. .She fears she will never get rid of him as he ‘can’t hold on to a woman’. Then he falls for Hazel, a man eater, an uppity member of the local Drama Group. Gabriel is out of his depth, can Chrissie, his reliable neighbour who fancies him, save him from a fate worse than death? Add a cast of crazy characters and be prepared for a night of fun and laughter; Just the ticket to cheer us up in these difficult times.

The Late John Mc Loone:
The death took place in Massereene Manor Private Nursing Home, Antrim on Sunday 23rd March 2014 of John Mc Loone, Cornagrilla, Glenties. His Remains were brought to his home on Monday and to The Church of The Holy Family, Edeninfagh on Wednesday morning. John’s brother, Fr. Francis Mc Loone assisted by a number of other priests concelebrated Requiem Mass. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Vincent and Peter Campbell and the Laughlin sisters. A reflection was read by John’s daughter Máire at the end of Mass. Burial took place in Edeninfagh Graveyard. John is survived by his wife, Kathleen, sons, Séan and Seamus, daughters, Eibhlín, Nabla and Máire, grandchildren, brothers, Patrick, James, Donal and Hugh and Fr. Francis, sister, Nabla, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His sister Eileen predeceased him.

Edeninfagh Graveyard:
Brannigan Associates, Chartered Surveyors, Glenties, have been commissioned to draw up Plans and apply for Planning Permission to extend the Graveyard in Edeninfagh and to construct a Roadway to the bottom of the proposed new extension.

Daffodil Day:
The amount raised on Daffodil Day in Glenties was € 2969.66. Thanks to all those, who gave so generously and to the volunteers who were on the street.

Cash for Clobber:
A ‘Cash for Clobber’ collection will take place in Edeninfagh N.S. on Tuesday 8th April. Bags are available at the school (black bin bags may also be used) which can be filled with all types of clothing, pairs of shoes, household textiles and handbags. Filled bags can be left to the school on Monday 7th or collection can be arranged by telephoning 086 1798692.

Bingo:
The winners at the Bingo in The Community Centre, Glenties, on Tuesday 25th March were – € 25 Winners – Mary Gasley, Nora Gallagher, Ann Kennedy, Amanda O’ Connell, Mary Kennedy, Hannah Sweeney, Cathy Connell and Mary Gallagher; € 50 Winners – Mary Gasley, Mary McGeehan, Maggie O’ Donnell, Paddy Gill, Emer Doherty, Margaret Murray, Adele Dooley, John Rodger, Sally McGuigan, Mary Gallagher and Mary Kennedy; € 60 Winner – Nora Gallagher, € 100 Winners – Breege Roarty, Nora Gallagher, Dim Melley, Anne Doherty, Breda Breslin, Grace O’Hara and Fiona Boyle; € 300 Winner – Amanda O’ Connell.
