Glenties Notes 7th April 2011

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Nan Craig, Church Road, Glenties, who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Thursday last.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Connie Herron, formerly of Glenamohill, Fintown, who died in Manchester recently and whose ashes were interred in Fintown Cemetery last week.

Bingo
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 29th march were – Sandra Moore won the Jackpot of € 400. B. Roarty, Breege Gallagher, Nellie Doherty, Nora Mc Hugh, Owen Harkin, Hazel Staunton, Mamie Mc Geehan, Rosaleen Melly and Paddy Mc Gill won € 100 each. Anna Cannon, Carmel Doherty, Maura Kilbane, Ann Mc Dyre, Breege Furey, Eilish O’ Donnell, Lisa Coughlan, Philomena Mc Callig, Sarah Mc Glynn, Dim Melly and Margaret Boyle won € 50 each. Sally Mc Guigan and Mary Mc Geehan won € 25 each. Patsy Martin, Bernie Martin and Mary Ellen Gavigan won € 20 each.

Monster Easter Bingo
Monster Easter Bingo will take place in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 26th April, Lines – € 100, Houses € 300 and Jackpot € 2000. Books – Single € 20, Double € 30 and Jackpot Sheets € 5. Usual Bingo with Plenty of Easter Prizes on Tuesday 19th April. Happy Easter!

Cancer Information Unit
The Marie Keating Foundation Mobile Cancer Information Unit will be available outside the Community Centre, Glenties on Thursday 14th April from 10..30 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. providing information on all areas of cancer awareness. Information Leaflets on each of the Key Cancers will be available to take home.

Daffodil Day Collection
Thank You to the volunteers and to all who supported Daffodil Day. The amount collected was € 2, 790.49.

Collection
The St. Vincent de Paul Society Annual Uganda Collection taken up recently amounted to € 665.00. The society wishes to thank everyone for their generous contributions.

Mountain Rescue Table Quiz
A Table Quiz in aid of Mountain Rescue will take place in The Glen Tavern on Friday night 15th April at 9.00 p.m. Tables of four. All welcome, so come along, have a fun night out and support this very worthy cause.

Confirmation
Bishop Philip Boyce will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation, to 72 young boys and girls of the Parish on Sunday 10th April 2011 at the 11 00 a.m. Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties.

Silver and Gold
Congratulations to Odhran Byrne Gildea, who won a Silver Medal in the under 15yrs 60m. Sprint at the All Ireland Finals in Magherafelt and a Gold Medal in the 4 x 200 Relay at the All Ireland Finals in Nenagh, at which the team broke the National Record by 3 seconds. Odhran runs for the North Sligo Athletics Club. His mother, Sinead is a daughter of Gerry and Bried Byrne, Ard Patrick, Glenties and his father, Leonard is a son of Neily (formerly of Mill Road, Glenties) and Teresa Gildea, Kentucky, Ardara.

Naomh Conaill Ladies
Naomh Conaill Ladies are collecting ‘Tesco Vouchers for Clubs and Schools’. They would be very grateful if you would give the vouchers you receive, to any committee member or leave them in the Craft Gallery. Thank You.
