Glenties Notes 7th July 2012
Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to the Mc Dyre and Early families on the recent death of their uncle, Eddie Moore, Loughfad; also to all his relatives and friends.
The Late Annie Devenney:
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Monday 25th June 2012 of Annie Devenney, Ard Patrick, Glenties. Her Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Tuesday afternoon. Fr. Shane Gallagher celebrated Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning. Readings were by family friends. Burial took place afterwards in the New Graveyard. Annie’s sister, May, with whom she lived all her life, predeceased her in 2006 and her brother-in-law, John Gallagher in 2004. Annie would have been 90 years on the 12th of July.
The Late Kate Quinn:
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Friday 22nd June 2012 of Kate Quinn, Ardara and formerly of Main Street Glenties. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara and burial took place in the New Graveyard, Glenties. She is survived by one son Kevin, his wife Treas and two granddaughters, Hilary and Marjorie, who reside in the USA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband Frank predeceased her in 1967. Kate (nee Roarty) a native of Drimnacrosh, Glenties was 92 years of age. She and her husband Frank opened the first Chip Shop in the town, in the house below the Bridge, where Good Earth now trades.
Patrick MacGill Summer School:
The Patrick MacGill Summer School takes place in Glenties from Sunday 22nd July until Friday 27th July. The Theme this year is ‘Reforming and Rebuilding Our State’. For further information www.macgillsummerschool.com
Bingo:
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 26th June were – Jimmy Quinn won € 300; Anthony Burke, Bruckless won € 150; Emma Sweeney, Ardara, Nora Mc Hugh, Sheila Kenny, Letterbarrow, Rosaleen Melly, Maas, Cathy Connell, Kilclooney, Patsy Browne, Fiona Boyle, Bridie Doherty and Josie Martin won € 100 each. Anne Furey, Martin Mc Taggart, Portnoo, Fidelma Burke, Bruckless, Jerry Doherty, Carmel Fitzgerald, Bridie Doherty, Paula Hegarty, James Gallagher and Kathleen Griffin won € 50 each; Emma Sweeney, Ardara, Michael Sweeney and Willie Mc Nelis won € 25 each.
Job Club Programme:

Graveyard Sunday:
Mass will be celebrated in the New Graveyard, Glenties next Sunday 8th July at 3 p.m. Mass will be celebrated in Edeninfagh Graveyard at 3 p.m. on Sunday 5th August.
Collection:
The Annual Irish Wheelchair Church Gate Collection will be taken up next weekend.
Collection Thanks:
The Care of the Aged Church Gate Collection for the Glenties Day Centre amounted to € 895 in Glenties and € 134 in Edeninfagh. The Committee would like to thank everyone for their generosity.
The Glenties Playground:
The Committee would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to their recent Church Gate Collection. The amount raised was € 640 and this will be used for the maintenance and insurance of the Playground.
