Glenties Notes 9th March 2017

Death of Rev Fr Pat Prendergast
It was with great sadness that the community of Glenties became aware of the untimely passing of Fr Pat Prendergast at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin on Monday 6th March. Fr Pat came to Glenties as Parish Priest in 1999 and served us with dedication and generosity. Known for his kindness and also his great interest in the schools of the Parish, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure to cross his path. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy
The sudden death took place recently of John O’Donnell, Cappry, Ballybofey. Originally from Aughla, Glenties, John is survived by his wife Sarah, daughter Annette Donaghey and three grandsons, Patrick, James and Daniel. He is also survived by brothers Jimmy and Willie and sisters Bridie, Annie and Rosie. John worked in St Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar for 27 years and made many friends throughout the years which was evident in the large attendance at his wake and funeral. He was laid to rest in Drumboe Cemetary following Requiem Mass which was con-celebrated by Fr John Joe Duffy and Fr Patsy Arkinson.

Sincere sympathy is also extended to the family of Pat McHugh, Narin Road, Glenties on his recent passing at Letterkenny University Hospital. Pat was laid to rest in the New Graveyard following Requiem Mass on Tuesday 7th March.
