Glenties Notes on February 26th 2004
Derek Byrne and Sandra Cannon were married in St. Cartha’s Church, Kilcar on Saturday 14th February 2004. Fr. John Gallagher P.P. Kilcar assisted by Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. Glenties officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Derek is a son of Gerry and Bried Byrne, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Sandra is a daughter of Michael and Anna Cannon, Kilcar. Her father gave the bride away and her sisters, Fiona Boyle and Joanne Cannon and her cousin; Leanne O’Donnell attended her. Pat Ward, uncle of the groom was bestman. John Boyle, brother-in-law of the bride and a friend, Kieran Hegarty were groomsmen. Odhran Byrne Gildea, nephew of the groom was pageboy. Readings were by Trina Mc Shane a friend and the groom’s sister Riaghan Byrne. Dee Lyons, friend, Deirdre Keaveney, aunt and Godmother of the groom. Damien Craig, friend and Michael Cannon, brother of the bride read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Blue Haven, Kilcar and the honeymoon was spent in the Carribean.
Congratulations to Caroline Deacy, Ballina and formerly of Glen Road, Glenties and Trevor Giles (Meath County Footballer) who were married recently in Ballina. Caroline’s Dad was a Superintendent of the Garda Siochana here in Glenties for a number of years.
Congratulations to Sr. Anne Mc Loone, who was awarded one of this year’s County Council / REHAB ‘People of the Year Awards’. Sr. Anne is from Main Street, Glenties.
Congratulations to Edwina and Martin Doherty, Loughcrillan, Glenties on the birth in Letterkenny Hospital on Tuesday 17th February 2004 of their first child, a baby boy.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Connie Mc Dermott, Main Street and James Mc Dermott, Meenahalla, Glenties on the death of their brother, Paddy, which took place in London on Wednesday 18th February 2004.
