The Ordination of Rev. Anthony Briody will take place in the Cathedral, Letterkenny on August 15th at 3pm. Everyone is welcome to attend this Ordination Mass in the Cathedral.  This will be a great day of joy for the Diocese but especially for the town of Glenties.  It will be some years before the Diocese will see another Ordination. Envelopes are available to collect from the back of the Church or from the Parochial House if you wish to give a gift.  Sealed envelopes, without any names, can be returned and placed in the collection basket on or before Sunday 4th August.

Due to GDPR Laws (Data Protection), Clergy are no longer able to avail of hospital lists in Letterkenny University Hospital which makes visiting parishioners more difficult.  If you have  a loved one in Letterkenny Hospital and you feel they would like a visit, please let Fr Gerard know.

A day of prayer and healing with Eddie Stones and Fr. Pat Collins takes place in Emmanuel House Of Providence Co.Galway on Saturday 3rd August. A bus  will pick up from Stranorlar Chapel Car park 6am, Donegal Town 6.30am and Ballyshannon 6.45am. Please bring a packed lunch. To book a seat contact 087 9215470.

Copies of the booklet, Celebrating a Catholic Funeral – Guidelines for the Diocese of Raphoe, can be found in the porch area of the Church.  This publication gives a good overview and explanation of the various strands involved in a Catholic Funeral – liturgy, theology, sacred music and the purpose of each in commending our loved ones to the mercy of God.

  • Music for the Funeral Mass must be sacred (ie Hymns).  Secular songs may be played in the graveyard if you so wish.
  • Should you like a eulogy, a good occasion for this might be at the wakehouse, afterwards in the graveyard or at the refreshments following the burial.  “The Funeral Mass in the Church is neither the appropriate occasion nor place to insert a speech or eulogy.”  (No 5, Diocesan Guidelines Booklet)
