Town Walks

ALTER LOOP (colour coded blue)
Starting at the Garda Station (no.17 on map) and facing the Highlanda Hotel (no.15 on map) follow the footpath to your left for about 50metres until you come to a road on your left leading up an incline to a housing estate. Keep to this road with the housing estate to your right as you walk. This will lead to a narrow road, continue on until you come to a divide as shown on the map, keep to the road on your left and follow it until you come to the main road. Follow the main road back into town.

MEENAHALLA LOOP (colour coded pink)
Starting at the Garda Station (no.17 on map) and facing the Highlanda Hotel (no.15 on map) follow the footpath to your left and continue up the hill passing a school and then some houses on your left. Continue on this route and you will pass more houses and the graveyard on your left, (Brian Friel the playwright is buried here) after the graveyard continue walking until you come to signposts on your right.
Take the path here, across the bridge, continue on and this will lead you onto a narrow road, turn to your right here and follow this road which will take you onto the main Ardara road, turn right here and follow the main road back into town.

MULLANTYBOYLE LOOP (colour coded green)
Starting at the Garda Station (no.17 on map) and facing the Highlanda Hotel (no.15 on map) head straight out the Ardara road passing the Museum and Courthouse on your right and St. Connell’s Church on your left. Follow the footpath/cycle lane for about 1 kilometre until you come to a narrow road on your right. Come off the main road here and follow the narrow road, continue on and you will cross a bridge and then shortly after that you will come to a junction, keep right here. After a short distance you will come to a divide in the road, the road to the right will lead you directly back into town and the one on the left will lead you to the main Dungloe Road where you will take a right here to take you back into town.
