First Holy Communion
Congratulations to Sean Coughlan, Christopher Gallagher, Keith Kennedy, Joe O ‘Donnell, Mark O ‘Donnell, Dean Mc Devitt, Mark Mc Glynn, Mark Doherty, Nathan Craig, Niamh Agnew, Grace Fischer, Danielle Mc Devitt, Amy Boyle Carr, Sophie Connaughton, Orlaigh Mc Guinness, Niamh O’Donnell and Shana Quinn from Scoil Mhuire, Danny Gallagher, Kieran Furey and Meabh Griffin from St. Riaghan’s and Emma Mc Dwyer from Kilkenny N.S. who received their First Holy Communion in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 2nd May. Congratulations also to Tadhg Mc Monagle, Mairead Mc Glynn and Jake Ward from Edeninfagh N.S. who received their First Holy Communion in The Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh on Sunday 3rd May.
Wedding
On Friday 24th April 2009 Barry Keeney and Sonya Black were married in St. Joseph’s Church, Rathmullan. Barry is a son of James and Claire Keeney, Drimnacrosh, Glenties and Sonya is a daughter of Joseph and Rosaleen Black, Rathmullan. Fr. Adrian Gavigan assisted by Fr. Martin Collum officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Her father gave the bride away and her bridesmaids were Tara O’ Donnell, Sandra Keeney, Eileen Duffy and Emma Black. David Molloy, cousin of the groom was bestman and his friends Charlie Boyle and Andy Malone were groomsmen. Shannon Duffy and Aine Gallagher were flowergirls. Readings were by Liam Black and Conal Keeney. Amy Bonner, Ronan Gallagher, David Keeney and Dean Mc Gowan read Prayers of the Faithful. The mothers of the bride and groom, Rosaleen Black and Claire Keeney brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in The Silver Tassie, Letterkenny and the honeymoon was spent in Egypt.
Silver Wedding
Congratulations to John and Jackie Molloy, Mully, Glenties who celebrated their 25th Anniversary recently.
Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended the wife, family, relatives and friends of John Doherty, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties who died last Friday 8th May.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Diane Boyle and family, Maas on the death recently of Diane’s brother, which took place recently.
Céilí
A Céilí in aid of the Irish Hospice will take place in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Saturday 16th May at 9.00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Admission is €8 and music is by Martin Duggan.
Tea Party
Anna Baskin is holding a Tea Party at her home and garden on Saturday 16th May from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Proceeds are in aid of Rev. John Deane’s Charity Cycle and Foreign Missions. Everyone is welcome.
Glenties Theatre Workshop
Auditions will take place on Saturday 16th May in the Community Centre, Glenties from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Anyone still interested in joining are welcome to come along. There is a € 10 registration fee. Also, if anyone has any old clothes e.g. Curtains, ladies blouses, skirts, Men’s Trousers (NOT JEANS), shirts, old hats or caps, bridesmaid, debs or communion dresses or dress up items i.e. crowns, wands, swords, etc. please contact us on 087-9704647 and we will collect them, or call to the Community Centre on Saturday 16th May from 4 p.m. These items are invaluable to us as they can be used again and again in our productions.
Marie Keating Information Unit
The Marie Keating Mobile Information Unit will be in Glenties Chapel Car Park on Wednesday 27th May from 11.00 a.m. – 3.00p.m.
