Glenties Notes 18th February 2015
The Late Danny Kennedy:
The death place in Kent, England of Danny Kennedy, formerly of Gortnamucklagh, Glenties. His Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday 13th February and burial took place in the New Graveyard, after Requiem Mass, celebrated by Fr. Gerard Cunningham, assisted by Fr. Pat Prendergast on Saturday 14th. Fr. Gerard is a nephew of Danny’s late wife, Rosie, who predeceased him 25 years ago. Danny is survived by two daughters, Bridie and Una, one son Joseph and his wife, Marie, grandson, Kieran, brother, Hugh, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His sister, Bridie and brother Paddy also predeceased him.
Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Margaret Rodger and family, Main St. Glenties, on the death of Margaret’s sister, Teresa Coyle, Brockagh, which took place recently.
Sincere sympathy is extended to John Mc Cann, Principal, Scoil Mhuire, Glenties, on the recent death of his mother, Jean Mc Cann, which took place in Belfast.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Johnny Farren and family, The Rock, Glenties on the death of Johnny’s mother in Dungiven, recently.

The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties, on Tuesday 10th February were – €20 Winners – Micheal Langan, Margo Gallagher and Julia Mc Guire; € 25 Winners – Brown Kid, Kathleen Boyle, Bernie Martin and Claire Keeney; € 40 Winner – Rosaleen Melly; € 50 Winners – Mary Mc Dermott, Margaret Gallagher, Julia Molloy, Mary Gavigan, Philomena Mc Callog, Kathleen Griffin, Tara Kennedy, Patsy Martin, Ann Maire Gillen and Ann Doherty, €100 Winners – Kathleen Griffin, Paddy Gill, Maggie O’ Donnell, Philomena Mc Callog, Mary Mc Dermott, Annie Boyle, Brenda Reid, Rosaleen Melly and Norah Gallagher; €300 Winner – Terence Breslin.
Church of Ireland Dance:
The Annual Church of Ireland Dance will be held in Elliott’s Bar on Saturday 21st February; starting at 9p.m. Music is by George Bustard. Refreshments will be served. Come along for a good night’s craic! .
First Holy Communion:
Children from Scoil Mhuire, St. Riaghan’s, Drimnacrosh and KilkennyN.S. will receive their First Holy Communion at 11.00 a.m. Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 25th April.
Enrolment at Kilkenny N.S.:
Parents wishing to enrol their child at Kilkenny N.S. Glenties for September 2015 are invited to call to the school for an Enrolment Form. For further information please contact the school ‘ 9544270.
Mindfulness:
This 6-week course is an introduction to the practice of mindfulness. Starting Wednesday 25th February 7.30 p.m.– 9.00 p.m. in the Day Care Centre, Dr. McCloskey Crescent, Glenties. You will learn simple techniques to live in the present relax and manage stress.
Enrolment at Scoil Mhuire:
Enrolment packs for Scoil Mhuire for school year 2015 / 2016 will be available for collection from the secretary’s office from Tuesday 24th February. Forms to be completed and returned to the school by Tuesday 3rd March.
