Glenties Notes 2nd October 2007
The Glen of Glenties Tug O War club are running an 8-a-side open catchweight competition this Sunday 7th October at the Glen Tavern. The competition will commence at 3p.m. and proceeds are in aid of the Donegal Hospice. Come along, enjoy the crack and support a very worthy cause.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family of Andrew Cape, Mullantyboyle, Glenties, who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Saturday 29th September.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Labour Party Collection arranged for last July in the Glenties area was not taken up. The collection will now take place at Church Gates in Glenties and Edeninfagh on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October.
Congratulations to Caroline and Eamon Bonner, Meenahalla, Glenties on the birth last week of their first child, a baby girl (Erin).
Congratulations to Cathal Campbell, Silverhill, Glenties and Denise Molloy, Fintown who were married in the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh on Saturday last.
Congratulations to Gerry Moore, Maas, Glenties, a teacher in St. Columba’s Comprehensive School, Glenties who was presented with an award by President Mary Mc Aleese in Dublin Castle on Monday 24th September. 52 teachers from all over Ireland were presented with Civic Merit Awards for their work as President Award Leaders for the past ten years.
Ceili, Sets and Barn Dance Classes will resume in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Thursday 11th October from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
The Novena to Our Lady of Fatima, which was undertaken by the Donegal County Board of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, will take place in Knock on 13th October. A bus will leave Glenties at 10 a.m. For more details ring 9557907.

The Coiste Forbartha are also delighted that Minister Éamon Ó Cuiv from An Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta announced funding of € 216,000 this week for the first phase of the development project.
