Glenties Notes 31st October 2007

The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Wednesday 24th October 2007 of Eilis Herron, (nee Mc Loone) Mill Road, Glenties.  Her remains were brought to her home on Thursday afternoon and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday morning.  Fr. Pat Prendergast celebrated Requiem Mass at 11.00a.m.  Readings were by Eilis’s nephew and her brother, Donal.  Prayers of the Faithful were read by other nieces and nephews.  Burial took place in the New Graveyard.  Her husband Patsy predeceased her two years ago and her sister Gemma died in June of this year.  Her sister Maura and her brother Art also predeceased her.  She is survived by two brothers, Seamie, Newtowncunningham, Donal, Letterkenny, one sister, Anne, England, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. 

On Saturday 20th October 2007 Noreen Mc Guinness and Kevin Mc Naney were married in The Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh, Glenties.  Fr. Denis Quinn assisted by Fr. Pat Prendergast officiated and concelebrated Nuptial Mass.  Noreen is a daughter of Jim and Maureen Mc Guinness, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Kevin is a son of Claire and the late Brian Mc Naney, Moneymore, Co. Derry.  Her father gave the bride away and she was attended by her friend, Anne Edel Ward.  The groom’s brother, Lawrence was bestman.  Readings were by Noreen’s brother Jim and Kevin’s brother-in-law, Patrick.  Prayers of the Faithful were read by Charles, nephew of the bride and Kayleigh, niece of the groom.  The Gifts were brought to the Altar by Paul, nephew of the bride and Jade, niece of the groom.  Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’ Donnell.  The reception was held in The Lake House Hotel, Clooney and the honeymoon is being spent in Rome and Florence.

Congratulations to Philip Gallagher, Buncrubog and Arlene Dunleavy, Anagary who were married in Glenties last Friday.

Congratulations to Aisling Bonner, Straboy and Conor O’ Neill, Westport who were married in Glenties last Saturday.

The recent collection taken up in aid of the I.S.P.C.C. amounted to € 802. Thanks to all those who supported this worthy cause.

Anyone participating in the Scoil Mhuire Christmas Shoe Box Appeal for children in need should hand in their boxes on Monday 5th or Tuesday 6th November.  Donations will also be accepted.
