Glenties Notes 3rd September 2014

Well Done:
Well done to Jim and the Donegal Team who defeated Dublin in the All Ireland Semi- Final and to Declan and his Team who also defeated Dublin in the Minor match. Best wishes for the Final

Sheep Dog Trials:
Another very successful Sheepdog Trials was held in Glenties again this year. The organisers would like to thank all who participated, Judges and all who helped in any way. A special thanks to John McLoone for the use of his excellent field. Winners Saturday 16th August – Local – 1st – Gerry O’Dwyer, 2nd – Hughie Mooney, Doohill, 3rd – Hughie Mooney, Brackey; Farmers – 1st John Travers, Ballintra, 2nd – Seamus Doherty, 3rd – Patsy Sullivan, Donegal Town, 30 Mile Radius – 1st Hughie Mooney, Doohill, 2nd – Noel Mc Devitt, 3rd- Hughie Mooney, Brackey.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Hugh Boyle, Caosan, Glenties, who died recently in Killybegs Hospital and was buried in Lettermacaward after funeral Mass in Glenties

Glenties Piano-thon:
A huge thank you goes out to everybody who helped to make “A Day for the Hospice” such a big success; to the students and parents who gathered sponsorship money and participated so well in keeping the Piano-thon going all day; to the business people of Glenties and Ardara and the Golf Club in Narin for your generous donations, either in money or prizes for the raffle, Johnny and Christine Boyle of the Highlands Hotel and their staff, who facilitated the event, Limavady Pianos for bringing and setting up the baby grand, Bernie for the beautiful flower arrangements and all of you who dropped in, either during the day or came to the wonderful concert in the evening. Thanks also to the MC for the evening, Rory Boyle and to the concert pianists, James, Orlaith, Stephen, Mark, Philip and Reece. With a couple of donations still to be given in, the total raised thus far is € 5557.

Bonner Cannon School of Irish Dance:
Irish Dance Classes will resume on Tuesday 2nd September in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties at 4 p.m. and advanced class at 5.30 p.m. Beginners are welcome.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo is held in Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.

Snooker:
Snooker room is open Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Tai Chi:
Tai Chi is commencing on Wednesday 3rd September 8 p.m. -9.30 p.m.

CE scheme:
New CE scheme starts on 22nd September 2014, any one willing to start contact 087 9695053 for more details. FAS criteria apply.

Bowls:
Bowls is commencing from Monday 1st September 2014.

Bingo:
