New Arrival
Congratulations to Louise and Anthony Byrne, Glen Road, Glenties who recently had an addition to their family, a baby sister (Sara) for Patrick, Tony, Shaun and Karolina.
Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the nieces, nephews, relatives and friends of John Mc Hugh, formerly The Croaghs, who died recently in England and will be buried in Glenfin.
Thanks
The Care of the Aged Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to their recent Church Gate Collection. The amount collected in Edeninfagh was € 145 and in Glenties was € 975. They also wish to thank the Ard Connell 60th Committee for their generous donation.
Bingo
Winners at the Bingo in The Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 29th June were – Maggie O’ Donnell won the Jackpot of € 400. Carey-Lee Hegarty, Paula Hegarty, Pauline Murray, Mary Gallagher, Ardaghy, Anne Mc Hugh, Glengesh, Ardara, Christine Mc Cool, Glenties, Rosaleen Gallagher, Ardara, Mary Ward, John Mc Loone and Ann Timoney won € 100 each. Paula Hegarty, Michael Doherty, Dylan Moore, Marie Boyle, Mary Gallagher, Leitir, Dylan Moore, Kathleen Boyle, Kilclooney, Margaret Ward, Mully, Kathleen Kenny and Bernadette Gallagher, Frosses won € 50 each. Grainne Gallagher and Ann Quinn won € 25 each.
Sponsored Walk
The 4th Annual Sponsored Walk in aid of The Kidney Dialysis Unit, Letterkenny Hospital will take place on 24th July. It will depart from The Glen Tavern going via Tangavane, Edeninfagh and Croaghs and back to the Glen Tavern again, where refreshments will be served (approximately 14 miles). Table Quiz
There will be a Table Quiz in The Glen Tavern tomorrow Friday 9th July at 9.00 p.m. The Table Quiz is to support the Visit of a Chernobyl Child.
Playschool / Afterschool Summer Activities Programme
“We are open to all children in Glenties and the surrounding area, including children visiting our area. Please book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited. Ages 3 years to 12 years costs € 3 per child per hour and € 2.50 for any subsequent family member. If your child is attending for a minimum of 2 hours per day and is attending 5 sessions per week one session will be free. Preschool – 9.30a.m. – 12.30p.m. and Afterschool 12.30p.m. – 5 00p.m. Drop in for all age groups is also available during the morning session. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information.” Week 1: 5th – 9th July – The main activities for Playgroup are Arts & Crafts, Grass Heads, Cooking, Mask Decorating and Bouncy Castle and for Afterschool – Football with Jamie, Games and Skills, Friday – Pitch and Putt (6 years).

Congratulations to Gavin Cannon, Station Road, Glenties and Breidin Mc Intyre who were married in Ballybofey on Saturday last 3rd July 2010.
Turbulent Eddy
Congratulations to local lads, Michéal Brennan, Conal Herron, Ross Campbell and Daniel Gildea (Turbulent Eddy) who were outright winners in the ‘Sounds like Summer’ Competition held recently in Strabane. Band member, Conal Herron got second for his song, which he had entered in the ‘Glinsk Song Contest’ in Galway last weekend. Well done lads!
