Glenties Notes on February 6th, 2003

The marriage of Deirdre Bonner and Kevin Kelly took place in Barna Church, Co. Galway on Saturday 25th January 2003. Fr. John Keane officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Deirdre is a daughter of Neilie and Teresa Bonner, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Kevin is a son of Kevin and Mary Kelly, Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon. The bride was given away by her parents and was attended by her sisters, Finola Quinn and Emily Bonner. John Kelly, brother of the groom was bestman and the groomsman was John Mulrennan, a friend of the groom. Michelle Farrell, niece of the groom was flowergirl and Dion Bonner, nephew of the bride was pageboy. Readings were by Michael Bonner, brother of the bride and Christopher Courtney, nephew of the groom. The bride’s Godparents, James Cunningham and Kathleen Bonner, her cousin, Maria Craig, friends of the groom, Adrian Finn, Michael Dwyer and Kevin Mulrennan read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar and Gary Loughlin read a Reflection. Music and singing was by Caroline and Sean. The reception was held in the Connamara Coast Hotel, Furbo and the honeymoon is being spent in South Africa.

The death took place in Tallaght Hospital, Dublin on Wednesday 29th January 2003 of Rosha O’Haire, (nee Given) Ard Mc Gill, Glenties. Her remains were brought to her sister Bernadette Mc Kelvey’s home on Thursday evening and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday morning. Fr. Prendergast P.P. celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by Rosha’s two sons, Francis and Tommy and the Psalm was by her nephew Seamus Given. Granddaughter, Jacqueline O’ Haire, daughter-in-law, Teresa O’Haire, niece, Mairead Curry and nephew, Martin Mc Kelvey read Prayers of the Faithful. Music was by Sr. Immaculata on the organ and Denise Boyle on the violin. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Rosha is survived by her two sons, Francis and Tommy, Dublin, daughter-in-law, Teresa, grandchildren, Jacqueline, Conor and Ciara, brother, Johnny Given, Mill Road, Glenties, sister, Bernadette Mc Kelvey, Beaghmore, Fintown, brother Tom in England, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Four sisters, Annie, Mary, Margaret and Bridie and brother, Phil predeceased her.

The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital, on Friday 31st January 2003 of Nellie Mc Hugh, Ardconnell, Glenties. Her remains were brought to her home later that day and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday morning. Fr. Prendergast P.P. celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by her nephew, Seamus Mc Hugh and grandniece, Maria Mc Devitt. Grandnieces, Patricia and Louise Mc Ginty, Megan Mc Hugh and Auveen Gallagher brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music was by the local choir. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. A native of Maghera, Ardara, Nellie is survived by one sister, Annie Mc Hugh, Stranaglough, Glenties, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Brothers, Denis, Paddy, Charlie, Eddie and Francie and sister Bridget Mc Hugh predeceased her.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Given Family, who had two bereavements recently. Mary Anne Bonner, Doochary, who died recently in Scotland and who was buried on Friday in Lettermacaward was a sister of their mother, the late Rita Given. Rosha O’ Haire, who was buried on Saturday, was a sister of their father, Johnny Given.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mary Gallagher, Maas, Glenties, on the death of her mother, Caimin Fox, Strandhill, Co. Sligo, who died last week.
