Glenties Notes on November 22nd 2001

The Bank of Ireland, Glenties wish to inform their customers that, on Thursday 6th December the Bank will be closed until 1.30p.m. This time will be used to train staff in preparation for the introduction of the Euro Currency. They apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause. If you have any questions, please ask a member of staff.

Congratulations to Mary and Jimmy Furey, Meenalargan, Glenties on the birth recently of their baby girl in Letterkenny Hospital.

Congratulations to Breeda and Anthony Mc Loone, Maas, Glenties on the birth recently in Letterkenny Hospital of their baby girl.

Congratulations to Margaret Mc Nelis, Ard Patrick, Glenties, who was recently conferred with a JEB Teacher’s Diploma in I.T. at Letterkenny Institute of Technology. Well done Margaret!

Congratulations to the members of St. Connell’s Church Choir, and local Tenor – Eamon Bonner, who featured in the outstanding performance of Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ – an exceptional Choral Celebration in St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny – directed and conducted by Jim Rafferty.

There will be Céilí Mór in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Friday 23rd November. Music is by the Matt Cunningham Band from Galway on their second visit to the county. Dancing is from 10.00 p.m. until 1.00 a.m. Admission is £5.00, including supper.

The Annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party will take place this year on Friday 7th December. The evening will begin with the celebration of Mass at 6.00p.m. in the Highlands Hotel, and this will be followed by dinner and entertainment. An open invitation is extended to all the Senior Citizens of the parish.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Tessie Melly, Glen Road, Glenties on the sudden death of her eldest son, Francis, in New York last week. Sincere sympathy also to his brother, Matthew, Ardara, his uncles, aunts and other relatives and many friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Hannah Campbell, Lettermacaward, (formerly of Mill Road, Glenties) on the sudden death of her son Brian, which took place recently in New Jersey, U.S.A. Also to his sisters, Kathleen Boyle, Lettermacaward, Noreen Kelly, Maryanne Dunne, and brother, Michael, U.S.A. uncle, Colm Melly, Main Street, Glenties, other uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
