Glenties Notes on October 11th 2001
Caroline Doherty and Damien Friel were married in the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara on Saturday 15th September 2001. Fr. Austin Lafferty, P.P. Ardara officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Caroline is a daughter of Chris and Ann Doherty, The Rock, Glenties and Damien is a son of Pat and Georgie Friel, Glenswilly. Her father gave the bride away and her sisters, Maria and Roisin Doherty and a friend, Leon Connelly were her bridesmaids. Brendan Friel, brother of the groom was bestman and Martin Langan, a friend of the groom and Christopher Doherty, brother of the bride were groomsmen. Nadine Friel, niece of the groom was a flowergirl and Daniel Maloney, cousin of the bride was a pageboy. Readings were by Geraldine Bonner and Sharon Mc Ginty, sister of the groom. Parents of the couple and a cousin of the groom, Naomh Callaghan brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Nesbitt Arms Hotel, Ardara and the honeymoon was spent touring.
Congratulations to Frankie and May Kennedy, Kilraine, Glenties who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently with a party in the Highlands Hotel. The couple was pleasantly surprised on the arrival of relatives who travelled from England to be with them and their family on this happy occasion.
Congratulations to Ann-Margaret Trimble, who recently graduated from Dundee University with a Higher Education Nursing Diploma. Ann-Margaret is a daughter of Patrick and Margaret Trimble, Maas, Glenties and is a past pupil of Kilkenny N.S. and St. Columba’s Comprehensive School, Glenties. She is currently employed in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.
