Narin & Portnoo Golf Club Notes 6th October 2010
Last week saw two members of the 1987 Donegal League winning team picking up firsts, illustrating that while form is temporary, class is permanent! Kieran Gallagher enjoyed a two point victory in the Wednesday Open, returning nines of twenty points apiece. Birdies at Lunula, Carraig Fada and Sweeney’s Bank were well-deserved and decorated an already elegant card.
Sunday saw yet another Michael Naughton victory, this time in association with his old sidekick, Seamus McDonagh. The two mirth-inducers scaled the heights on the front nine, with pars aplenty and birdies from Seamus on Lunula and Dolmen. The back nine began tentatively, but another birdie from the captain at Hemmersbach’s Gap ensured that a fall from grace was not on the cards and they were victors on a break-off-tie from Charlie Bryson and Donie McCole. Who gets to make the podium speech will be a bone of contention no doubt, but either way, it should be entertaining and educational.
