Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 8th September 2014

Well done to our U16’s who beat Aodh Ruadh in the Division 1 Championship good luck in the next round lads.

Best of luck to Our U16 Ladies who are taking on Moville in the Semi Final on Thursday at home come out and support this great young team.

Glenties Notes 3rd September 2014

Sheep Dog Trials:
Another very successful Sheepdog Trials was held in Glenties again this year. The organisers would like to thank all who participated, Judges and all who helped in any way. Glenties Piano-thon:
A huge thank you goes out to everybody who helped to make “A Day for the Hospice” such a big success; to the students and parents who gathered sponsorship money and participated so well in keeping the Piano-thon going all day; to the business people of Glenties and Ardara and the Golf Club in Narin for your generous donations, either in money or prizes for the raffle, Johnny and Christine Boyle of the Highlands Hotel and their staff, who facilitated the event, Limavady Pianos for bringing and setting up the baby grand, Bernie for the beautiful flower arrangements and all of you who dropped in, either during the day or came to the wonderful concert in the evening. Thanks also to the MC for the evening, Rory Boyle and to the concert pianists, James, Orlaith, Stephen, Mark, Philip and Reece. With a couple of donations still to be given in, the total raised thus far is € 5557.

Bonner Cannon School of Irish Dance:
Irish Dance Classes will resume on Tuesday 2nd September in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties at 4 p.m. and advanced class at 5.30 p.m. Beginners are welcome.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo is held in Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.

Snooker room is open Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Tai Chi:
Tai Chi is commencing on Wednesday 3rd September 8 p.m. -9.30 p.m.

Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 6th May 2014

Names will be taken in the club house this Friday 9th May from 8pm to 8.30pm for the Donegal V Derry game. This is an all ticket game, once tickets are ordered they cannot be cancelled.

There will be a meeting on in the Clubhouse at 8.30 for all managers and mentors for any under age team on Friday the 9th may, it’s important that all managers and mentors attend.

The Club is organising a Scrap Saturday with the collection of scrap metals commencing on Thursday 29th to Saturday 31st May at the rear of the club house. For anyone who wants materials collected contact Numbers are, Daniel Mc Geehan 086 8586395, Connie Doherty 086 1519835, Peter Mc Kelvey 087 6483685. Only Metals will be collected.

The first draw in the 200 club will take place on the 27th May. There are some places left and if you wish to be included please contact any club executive member.

Naomh Conaill Club Notes 31st July 2013

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 1,5, 16 and 23. Two prizes of €50 went to Mary Gallagher Ardaghey and Hugh Gallagher Narin Road. This weeks jackpot is €3,200.

Well done to our U12 team who had a very comprehensive victory over Killybegs in the U12 championship final on Monday evening and well done also to the B team who won their final.

Commiseration to the third team who were beaten in the junor B championship by the narrowest of margins by St Eunans on Sunday. St Eunans 1-07 0-09 Naomh Conaill.

The Naomh Conaill 5k run/walk will take place on Friday 9th August @ 7pm starting from the clubhouse. Come out and support your local club by running/walking or take along the buggy. Small kids are welcome to take their bikes to cycle along with a walker. Registration is from 6pm. There is ample parking and full changing/shower facilities. Tea and refreshments will be served immediately after the run/walk. A bouncy castle will also be on site to keep the children busy. Entry fee is €8 for adult and €3 for under 16’s.

All tickets ordered for the quarter final Donegal v Mayo must be collected in the clubhouse on Friday evening between 7 & 8pm.

Good luck to the Donegal senior football team especially the Naomh Conaill lads when they take on Mayo in the All Ireland quarter final this Sunday in Croke park.

Naomh Conaill Club Notes 17th July 2013

Congratulations to our U14 team and their manager who were crowned U14 County champions last Wednesday after they defeated St Eunans in the final. Naomh Conaill 5-08 2-13 St Eunans. This was the first team in the clubs history to capture the U14 title so well done to everyone involved.

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 1,9,24 and 25. Two prizes of €50 went to Ann Craig Ard Patrick and Mary Gavigan Glen Road. Next weeks jackpot is €3,000.

Well done to our U12 team who had another great victory over Aodh Ruadh on Monday night to stay top of the league.

The U16’s are home to Ardara on Monday 22nd July at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the Ulster final will be given out in the clubhouse on Thursday evening between 7 and 8pm. It is very important that all tickets ordered be collected on the night.

The club would like to wish the Donegal team especially the Naomh Conaill lads Jim, Anthony, Leo, Marty, Dermot, Joe and Charlie the best of luck in the Ulster final this Sunday in Clones when they take on Monaghan.

Naomh Conaill Club Notes 22nd May 2013

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 2,13,14 and 16. Two prizes of €50 went to Michael Brennan Main Street and Dermot Bonner Glen Road. Next weeks jackpot is €2,200.

In the championship last Wednesday the U14’s had a comprehensive victory over Bundoran 5-06 to 9-09. They continued their winning ways on Monday when they overcame Dungloe 1-05 to 7-07.

The thirds game v St Eunans which was due to be played last Staurday was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. This Friday they are home to Glenfin at 7.30pm.

Both the seniors and reserves had good victories at the weekend over St Michaels. The reserves won 3-13 to 1-06 while the senior game finished 0-09 to 0-07. This Saturday the reserves are home to Gweedore at 7.30pm.

In conjuction with our fund raising draw the club will host a Fun Filled Table Quiz(open to 14years and over) this Friday 24th May at 8.30pm sharp in the Community Centre. Tables of 4(adults €5 each) or tables of 5(14-18year olds €4 each) or mixed. To register your team or for any enquiries contact Michael 086 8174855 or Martin 086 8656312. The fundraising draw will then take place in Leo’s Bar after the quiz. Come along and enjoy a fun night.

The club is currently running a draw. 1st prize 2 All Ireland football tickets, overnight accomadation in the Hartcourt hotel and €500 spending money, 2nd prize 2 tickets for Donegal v Tyrone. Tickets are €3 or 2 for €5. Tickets are available from club members.

Donegal v Tyrone tickets: The allocation of tickets is being decided. People receiving tickets will be contacted by the club.

The U-14’s are away to Bundoran in the Championship tonight Wednesday at 7pm.

Donegal GAA supporters club are holding a discussion forum in An Grianan Theatre Letterkenny on Wednesday 22nd May at 8pm. Special guests on the night are Martin Mc Hugh, Anthony Molloy, John Lynch and Pat Mc Anneney. Compeer on the night will be Highland Radios own Charlie Collins, music entertainment will be provided by Pat Gallagher (Goats Don’t shave) Eddie Gallagher and David Craig. Admission is only €10. All Ireland Champions:
Congratulations and Well Done to Glenties man, Jim Mc Guinness and his Team who won the 2012 All Ireland Final on Sunday 23rd September and bringing SAM back to Donegal. Thank you for bringing such Joy to Donegal people at home and throughout the world.

Jiving Classes:
If you would like to learn to Jive, Tone Up and have a night’s fun get on your dancing shoes and come to our Jiving classes every Monday night beginning on 1st October in the Highlands Hotel 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Young experienced Tutor will teach Jiving, Waltzing and advanced moves; all ages are welcome. Dancing Classes:
Dancing classes for beginners will start in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Wednesday 10th October from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. and every Wednesday night from that on.

Glenties & Dungloe Sewerage Schemes:
Cllr.Terence Slowey welcomes the announcement at today’s Glenties Electoral Area Meeting that the Glenties and Dungloe Sewerage Schemes have now gone to tender with the completed tender documentation to be back with Donegal County Council by October 18th 2012. Cllr. Slowey was also told by Donegal County Council that the projected timeframe for the award of the Contract was the first Quarter of 2013 with the Construction Phase taking 18 months. This is great news of the people of Glenties and Dungloe who have waited a long time for this project to be delivered. According to Councillor Slowey this is the second Design, Build, Operate (DBO) contract which will be awarded in Donegal for the provision of sewerage facilities. The contract will involve the Construction of Main Transfer Pumping Stations and Wastewater Treatments Works in both towns. The Councillor went on to say that the works will include all pipe work between the Pumping Station and the Treatment Works and the associated outfalls for both treatment systems. There will be an outlying Pump Station on the Mill Road, Dungloe and the rehabilitation and cleaning of the existing pipe network in both towns. The DBO Contract will also include a 20 year Operational Phase by the successful Contractor. Cllr. Slowey said he expected the work to be completed in both Glenties and Dungloe and both systems operational by the end of 2014.

Naomh Conaill Club Notes 28th September 2011

Congratulations to the Donegal senior team on winning the All Ireland Football final over Mayo. This was a very proud day for the club having so many lads involved in the team- manager Jim Mc Guinness, players Leo, Anthony, Dermot & Marty, kit man Joe and Charles.Well done boys on your great achievement.

The U-13 had a very comprehensive victory over Dungloe last Friday.

The minor regional semi final game against St Johns that was due to be played last Friday was cancelled. No date has yet been set for the game.

Congratulations to the Senior team who won the Patsy Brogan Memorial Tournament final in Donegal Town last Wednesday when they defeated Killybegs 1-13 to 0-12. Well done also to Daragh Gallagher who was received Man of the Match.

The Donegal senior championship 1st round 1st leg takes place this weekend. Both the seniors and reserves are home to St Nauls on Sunday. The reserve game is at 1.30pm followed by the senior game at 3.00pm.

The U-13 girls beat Carndonagh in the Group A County Semi Final in Killygordon last Wednesday. They are now through to the County Final which will take place in the next couple of weeks.

The minor girls won their game against Gweedore, their next game is against Naomh Mhuire.
