Naomh Conaill Club Notes 27th November 2013

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 8,10,16 and 30. Two prizes of €50 went to Annette Breslin The Glen and Eileen Gallagher Main Street. Next weeks jackpot is €4,900.

The minor boards AGM takes place this Friday 29th November in the clubhouse at 8pm.

The clubs AGM will take place on Friday 6th December at 7.30pm. Nomination and motion forms are available from the Inniskeel Co-op. All filled in forms must be returned by Monday 2nd December to the clubs secretary Vincent Cranley.

The club held a very successful Strictly come jiving in the Highlands Hotel last Saturday. Congratulations to Carol and Gerry who were crowned the winners.

Glenties National School GYM ~ the Church Gate Collection next weekend Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th November will be go towards the funding of the Gym at Scoil Mhuire. The Committee appeals for your generous support “The Future of The Gym is in Your Hands”.

Glenties Community Alert:
Our Annual Collection taken up at Glenties and Edeninfagh Churches last weekend amounted to € 600.00. Thank you for your generous support; Glenties Community Alert is in operation for over 20 years and has 55 monitored alarms installed in houses in our community, with more pending funding. If anyone wishes to apply for a monitored alarm we can be contacted at 0749551766 or the local Garda Station.

Collection Envelopes:
Your Help would be appreciated in helping us to compile the 2014 List for Sunday Collection Envelopes; Any New Parishioner who would like a box of envelopes, or any parishioner who has Changed Address since this time last year, should leave name and address in the Sacristy after any of The Masses, or telephone the Parochial House 0749551117. Glenties Parish Social:
The Christmas Parish Social will take place on Sunday 1st December in the Highlands Hotel, commencing at 3.00 p.m. with Mass; and a warm welcome is extended to all our Senior Citizens. The Committee will appreciate any Donations or Raffle Prizes towards the running costs of the event.

Athletics Club:
An information evening will be held in St. Columba’s Comprehensive School on Tuesday 19th November at 8 p.m. to inform parents of the upcoming launch of an athletics centre for the local area. This athletics centre will be opened to all individuals 8 years and over. Trial sessions will also commence on 26th November at the Comprehensive School Gym at 6.30 p.m for anyone interested in taking part. Everyone is welcome.

Collection:
The Church Gate Collection for the Dungloe Branch of the Mental Health Association taken up recently in Glenties amounted to € 618.18 Thank you to everyone for your generosity.

Glenties Knitters:
Glenties Knitters meet on Thursday mornings at 11.00 a.m. in the Highlands Hotel to learn and share the skills of knitting and crochet or come along just to chat and have a cup of tea or coffee.

Glenties Annual Christmas Market:

World Remembrance Day for Victims of Road Traffic Accidents:

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday 18th May 2014 at 11 a.m.

Trocaire Syria Appeal:

Already, over 255, 855 Syrian refugees have benefited from our support; but this crisis is deteriorating so rapidly that we are appealing for you to help us reach even more people.100% of every donation received to our Syria emergency appeal will go directly to our response to this devastating crisis. ”A Special Collection for Trócaire’s Syria Appeal will be taken up at all Masses next weekend.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo in the Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Every line is €50, every house is €100. Jackpot if not won, will be €9000 on the 19/11/2013, if not won on the night €300, will be paid out. In house draws. Bingo will be on Christmas Day this year instead of Christmas Eve.

Bowls: Bowls in the Centre every Monday night at 8 p.m.
Tai Chi: Tai Chi is on in the centre on Wednesday night at 8pm.

The minor boards AGM will take place on Friday 7th December in the Clubhouse at 8.00pm. This is a very important meeting where underage managers for the coming year will be appointed. Anyone interested in helping out in any way is asked to attend.

Commiserations to the U13 team who were beaten by the narrowest of margins 1 point in the county final by St Eunans. Naomh Conaill 3-05 3-06 St Eunans.

Well done to the U21 team who are through to the county semi final after they overcame Letterkenny Gaels in the quarter final last Saturday in Convoy. Naomh Conaill 0-10 2-03 Letterkenny Gaels. They now play Cloughaneely in the semi final this Sunday 2nd December at 12.30pm in O’Donnell park Letterkenny.

The senior team played their last league game of the year on Sunday in Towney where they overcame Kilcar 1-04 to 3-05.

Club merchandise is now available in The Iniskeel Co-op Glenties and Maxwells Ballinamore. This includes jerseys,jackets,t-shirts, hoddies and kitbags.

The Naomh Conaill Ladies presentation night for all underage girls will take place in the Highlands Hotel on Sunday 2nd December at 7.00pm. This was a very special year for our underage girls as a large number of girls have three county medals to receive. Our U13 girls won the County league, U14 won the County feile and the county league. It would be appreciated if as many as possible could come along on the night to show their support. There will be a few special guests on the night.

The clubs AGM which was due to take place this Friday night has been postponed until Friday 14th December at 8.00pm in the clubhouse.

The U21’s play Letterkenny Gaels this Saturday 24th November at 2pm in MacCumhaill Park.

Last weekends Division One Reserve and Senior league game between Kilcar and Naomh Conaill was called off due to the pitch being unplayable. It is now fixed for this Sunday 25th. The reserve game is at 1.00pm followed by the senior game at 2.15pm.

Glenties Notes 14th November 2012

Best Wishes:

Iniskeel Community Games (Glenties / Fintown):
We are looking for volunteers to help manage or train the young boys and girls for team and individual events in next year’s activities e.g.-Basketball, Gaelic Football, Soccer, Quiz, Dance, Music and Drama etc. In 2012 fifty seven medals were won in our area, Chairman, Darragh Gallagher won the ‘Youth Volunteer Award’ and we also won ‘The New Area Award.’ We would like to build on this achievement in 2013. The Community Games give the young people an opportunity to take part in, and compete in a wide rang of activities at County, Provincial and National levels. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Darragh on 087 2121036 or Shauna on 087 7080567 so that we can organise for next year as soon as possible. We would like to thank all those who helped out in2012, Martin Regan, Seanie Mc Devitt, James Gallagher, the parents and committee members.

The Glenties Community Centre Committee announce a Draw to help with the funding of the renovations. The Molloy Family, Station Road, Glenties would like to say a Big Thank You to everyone who gave to the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind collection on the 6th October last. The amount collected was € 858. Thank You.
