Narin & Portnoo Golf Club Notes 21st September 2011

James McGuinness is the man you have to beat at present, finishing on the podium in his last two events, though just coming up short each time. Michael Glynn bettered James’ score by a point on Wednesday last, the former’s score consisting of nines of 20 and 21 points respectively. A birdie on the Rampar (3rd) was just the start Michael required and he maintained that good form right the way to the finish.

Sunday’s competition was sponsored by the Glenties Golf Society and James’ nemesis this time was Kevin Doherty who coped best with the tough conditions to return a fine score of 37 points. Consistency was the buzzword on his front nine of 20 points, yet when little crises loomed on the way home, he rallied with several excellent comeback holes to end up the only player to break par. Can James make it third time lucky this week?
