Harvest Fair Day Collection:
The Friends of Letterkenny Hospital Collection on the Harvest Fair Day in Glenties amounted to € 1385. Thanks to everyone who supported this very worthy cause.

Congratulations to our Senior and reserve teams on their victory over St Eunans on Sunday last in Glenties. Both teams who ended top of their groups to reach the quarter final with mouth-watering ties, Seniors who were drawn against neighbouring town Ardara and to be played in Donegal town on sat 18th at 4pm and the reserves play Dungloe in Ballybofey on sun 19th at 5.30pm. Good luck to both teams and management involved.

Naomh Conaill are hosting a “Come dine with me” night in November so if anyone is interested in hosting a table in your own house with a great nights fun in the Highlands Hotel afterwards to contact any of the exective member for further details.

Glenties Community Action Group::
“We wish to sincerely thank everyone who played a part in our recent successful Harvest Fair Festival. To all our sponsors, local businesses, stall holders, craftspeople and farmers, who helped create such a great atmosphere, a heartfelt thank you also to the local Gardaí, and County Council Personnel, for the road closures and street cleaning. A special thank you to all those who entered floats in the parade an helped with the Wild West Theme, and to all our musicians and entertainers thank you also. Finally to all the people of Glenties and beyond who turned out in such number and created such a buzz, thank you for your support and appreciation. We now turn our attention to our Halloween Weekend on the October Bank Holiday weekend, and hope for similar success and crowds as we saw at the Harvest Fair. Thank you to everyone again.”

The Late Hugh Boyle:
The death took place recently in Killybegs Hospital of Hugh Boyle, Caosan, Kilraine, Glenties. Hugh is survived by one brother, Michael and one sister, Philomena Coughlan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His brother Patrick and two sisters, Bridget Boyle and Sarah O’ Neill predeceased him.

The Late Frank Connaghan:
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Sunday 7th September 2014 of Frank Connaghan, Main Street (formerly Mill Road), Glenties. Frank is survived by his wife, Anne, son Manus, daughters, Tara and Francine sisters, Anne and Madge, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His daughter, Nadine predeceased him in 1988.

Golden Wedding:
Congratulations to Jimmy and Bernadette Mc Kelvey, Beaghmore, Fintown, who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last weekend.

Silver Wedding:
Congratulations to Laurence and Michelle Molloy, Narin Road, Glenties, who celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary recently. Best wishes to both couples for many more happy years together.

Occupational First Aid Refresher Course:
St Riaghan’s NS, Drimnacrosh are running an Occupational First Aid refresher course in the school on Wednesday 8th & Wednesday 15th October- (7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each evening). The Harvest Fair Weekend:
We were blessed with beautiful weather for the Harvest Fair Weekend this year. The sun was shinning and it was lovely and warm. There was a very big crowd on the Harvest Fair Day, Friday 12th and the stalls were on both sides of the street and out the roads. On Saturday there was also a good crowd with different events taking place. The Float and Band Parade, which was really good, was on Sunday, with music and dancing on the street. Well done to the organising committee.

Harvest Queen:
Congratulations to Laoise Ward, daughter of Pat and Anne-Edel, Derries, Glenties, who was selected on Saturday night as this year’s Harvest Queen.

The All Ireland Final:
Best wishes to Jim and Declan and all the lads next Sunday in the All Ireland Final. Let’s hope we will have a double celebration at the end of the day.

Hospice Coffee Morning:
“The 5th & 6th Class Pupils at St. Riaghan’s N.S., Drimnacrosh, will host their annual “Coffee Morning” in the school on Thursday 18th September, between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. All money raised on the day will go to the Donegal Hospice. We extend an open invitation to the local community to come along, join us for a cuppa and a chat, and help raise much needed funds for this very worthy cause

New Arrivals:
Congratulations to Lorraine and Raymond Brennan, Altar Road, Stranaglough, Glenties on the birth recently of their twins. Two little sisters for Annie, Thomas and Sophie.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Mary Breslin, wife of the late Francie Breslin, Kilraine, who died on Tuesday 2nd September 2014 and was buried in Kilraine Graveyard on Friday after Requiem Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties, celebrated by Fr. Pat Prendergast.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family, relatives and friends of Frank Connaghan, Main St. Glenties who died last Sunday 7th September 2014.

Tír Chonaill Athletics Club:
Tír Chonaill Athletics Club will resume training on Tuesday 9th September at St. Columba’s Comprehensive School Gym from 6.30 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Children can be dropped off from 6.30 p.m. only). 15 Km Walk:
The Parents and Teachers of The Naíonra, Fintown and S.N. Cholmcille, Fintown are taking part in the Airtricity Meentycat Windfarm 15 km Walk on the 27th of September. Participating walkers can enjoy views of Donegal’s most stunning natural land marks including Mount Errigal & Barnesmore Gap. It is not a race therefore it can be as leisurely or as speedy as you wish. The walk can be started any time from 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon. A huge thank you goes out to everybody who helped to make “A Day for the Hospice” such a big success; to the students and parents who gathered sponsorship money and participated so well in keeping the Piano-thon going all day; to the business people of Glenties and Ardara and the Golf Club in Narin for your generous donations, either in money or prizes for the raffle, Johnny and Christine Boyle of the Highlands Hotel and their staff, who facilitated the event, Limavady Pianos for bringing and setting up the baby grand, Bernie for the beautiful flower arrangements and all of you who dropped in, either during the day or came to the wonderful concert in the evening. Thanks also to the MC for the evening, Rory Boyle and to the concert pianists, James, Orlaith, Stephen, Mark, Philip and Reece. With a couple of donations still to be given in, the total raised thus far is € 5557.

Bonner Cannon School of Irish Dance:
Irish Dance Classes will resume on Tuesday 2nd September in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties at 4 p.m. and advanced class at 5.30 p.m. Beginners are welcome.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo is held in Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.

Snooker:
Snooker room is open Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Tai Chi:
Tai Chi is commencing on Wednesday 3rd September 8 p.m. -9.30 p.m.

CE scheme:

Bowls:

These closures are to facilitate a safe and enjoyable festival for everyone, and are seen as essential to the running and organising of the Fair Day itself, and the weekend festivities. The closures will be a follows; Friday 12th September from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 14th September from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Local access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles, but all non essential traffic will be diverted at Maas; Kilraine; Hillhead, Ardara; and at Fintown. We thank you for your co-operation in advance, and look forward to a safe and enjoyable festival.”
