Glenites Notes on 6th February 2006

Congratulations to Janice and Gerry Doherty, Tullyard Road, Glenties on the birth recently of their third child, a baby sister (Erin) for Aoise and Eve.

Congratulations to Elizabeth and Florian Fischer, Station Road, Glenties, on the birth recently of their fourth child, a baby brother for John, Grace and Max.

A Dance and Fiddle Weekend organised by Belfast Set Dancing & Traditional Music Society will be held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties from Friday 17th – Sunday 19th February. On Friday 7.00p.m. – 9.00p.m. – Workshop for Beginners with Frank Mc Connell from Scotland – Scottish / Cape Breton Solo Dance. 9.00p.m. – 12.30a.m. Sets Ceilí with Copper Plate Ceilí Band (Co. Tyrone)£5 / E8. Saturday 18th 10.30a.m. – 1.00p.m. – Two – Hand Scottish Dances with Sheila Mc Cutcheon (Scotland). 11.00a.m. – 1.00p.m. – Advance Fiddle Workshop with Vincent Campbell. 2.00p.m. – 4.00p.m. – Two – Hand Donegal Dances with Connie Mc Kelvey & Anne Conaghan. 2.00p.m. – 4.00p.m. – Scottish / Cape Breton Solo Dance. 9.00p.m. Till late – Dancing with Jim Mc Grath (Fermanagh), Martin Mc Ginley (Donegal) & Paul Mc Sherry (sets, Céilí, solo & 2 – Hand) – £5 / E 8. Music sessions throughout the weekend.

Marcel Mc Cafferty, Chiropodist will be in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Monday 13th February and on the 12th of every month except when the 12th falls on a Sunday.

There will be a meeting of the team preparing the February Family Mass in the Hotel on Monday 13th February at 9.00p.m. More parents are needed to help with organising the Family Masses. If you are interested contact Maria McInnes or come to the meeting on Monday 13th.

A gent’s gold watch with engraving on the back of the watch was lost after 11.00a.m. Mass in Glenties on Sunday 29th January. It is of great sentimental value. If anyone has found the watch would you please ring 9544018.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family of Jim Rafferty, (St. Connell’s Church choir master), who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Monday 6th February.
