Glenties Notes 13th January 2010

Bridie Herron:
The death took place on Wednesday 6th January 2010, of Bridie Herron, Letterilly, Glenties. Her remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday morning. Fr. Shane Gallagher C.C Glenties, Fr. John Mc Loone P.P. Frosses and Fr. Aodhan Cannon C.C. Ardara concelebrated Requiem Mass. Readings and Prayers of the Faithful were by Bridie’s grandchildren. The Gifts were brought to the Altar by granddaughter Mary Mc Crossan (Doherty) and Margaret Flannery. Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’ Donnell, Sinead Finn and two grandsons Conal and Kevin Herron. Burial took place in the New Graveyard, Glenties. Bridie is survived by three sons, Patrick, Johnny and Michael, two daughters Kathleen Brennan and Evelyn Doherty, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband Michael predeceased her in 1967. Her sister, Mamie Sweeney also predeceased her. Bridie was 96 years old and was in good health until recently.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to her husband, Hugh, and to all the relatives and friends of Eilish Boyle, formerly of Main Street, Glenties who died last week in Co. Kildare. She was buried in Rathangan on Saturday 9th January 2010. Eilish, a native of Derry, and her husband Hugh had a business and lived on Main Street for many years, where the Craft Shop is now, until they retired to Co. Kildare.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife, family, relatives and friends of Paddy Mc Geehan, Derries who died suddenly on Sunday 10th January.

Sincere sympathy is extended to John Ward and family, Meenavale, Glenties on the death of John’s sister, Winnie O’Gara, formerly of Meenavale, which took place recently in England; also to all the relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Gerard Mc Dwyer, Derries on the death of his niece Caroline Byrne, which took place last week in Ottawa, Canada.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Conal, Mill Road, and Patsy Gallagher, Tullynaglaggin, Glenties on the death of their uncle, Brendan Gallagher formerly of Straoughter, which took place recently in England; also to all the relatives and friends.

Youth Choir
There will be a choir practise for the Youth Choir at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday 16th January (weather permitting).

Parish Council
There will be a meeting of Glenties Parish Council on Thursday 14th January in the Highlands Hotel at 9.00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Thanks
Sincere thanks from Melissa and Stephanie to those who supported the Habitat for Humanity Cake Sale, which was held on the 19th December. A total of € 800 was raised. We would also like to thank those people who generously donated raffle prizes and anyone who helped in any way.
