Glenties Notes 26th October 2012

The Late Mary Ward:
The death took place in Killybegs Hospital, on Wednesday 10th October 2012, of Mary Ward, Lr. Meenavale, Glenties. Her Remains were taken to her home later that day and to the Church of the Holy Family on Friday morning for Requiem Mass, celebrated by Fr. Pat Prendergast. Burial took place afterwards in Edeninfagh Graveyard. She is survived by one brother, John and one sister, Rose, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

The Late Eddie Bonner:
The death took place unexpectedly, at his home, on Thursday 11th October 2012 of Eddie Bonner, Ardconnell, Glenties. His Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday morning. Fr. Pat Prendergast celebrated Requiem Mass. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music was by John F. O’ Donnell and Elaine Boyle. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Eddie is survived by his wife, Anne, daughters Tara, Lynda, Edwina and Noelle, two sons, Collie and Gavin, twin sister, Annie, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His brother Cornelius predeceased him four years ago. Burial took place in the New Graveyard.

Safe Pass Course:
A safe pass course will be held in Glenties on Tuesday 6th November. Contact Deirdre on 086 6033927 or Dolmen Centre on 074 9545010 as soon as possible as places are limited.

Bingo:
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 16th October were – Kathleen Kenny won the Jackpot of € 300; Bried Gallagher, Anne Deane, Kilcar, Anne Kennedy, Nora Mc Hugh, Teresa Mc Kelvey, Patrick Browne and Emer Doherty won € 100 each; Pat Sweeney won € 60; Brenda Reid, Mary Mc Gowan, B. Doherty, Mrs. Gallagher, Ann Furey, May Kennedy, Liam Butler, Sarah Mc Glynn, Patricia Molloy, Paula White, Patricia Hegarty, Josie Martin, Anna Molloy and Mary Duddy won € 50 each; Fiona Gallagher and Margaret Molloy won € 25 each.

Glenties Community Centre:
The Community Centre will be closed for 6 weeks due to refurbishing; Bingo, Zumba, Tai Chi will all be held in the Highlands Hotel at usual times.

Coffee Morning:
Edeninfagh N.S. will host a Coffee Morning in aid of Temple Street Children’s University Hospital on Friday 26th October, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Everyone is welcome.

Collection:
The collection for the Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital, taken up in Edeninfagh recently amounted to € 118. Thanks to all who subscribed.

Thanks:
The Glen Kidney Dialysis Fund-Raising Committee would like to thank everyone who took part in the following fundraising events – Table Quiz, 10 k Fun Run / Walk, Tractor Run, Honda 50 Run and to all the kind people who gave donations. The amount raised for the Kidney Dialyses Unit, Letterkenny Hospital was € 4,950. Thank You.

Fundraising 5 K:
Patricia and Paddy Molloy wish to say a Big Thanks to all who participated in the 5 k on the 6th October; € 1,000 was raised, with; € 500 going to the Glenties Branch of Alzheimer’s and € 500 to the Donegal Centre for Independent Living.

Two Hand and Céilí Classes:
Two Hand & Céilí Classes with Connie Mc Kelvey will take place in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties every Wednesday night from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Beginners welcome.

I.S.P.C.C. Collection:
The I.S.P.C.C. Collection which was taken up in Glenties recently amounted to € 593.00. Many thanks to all those who supported this very worthy cause.

Beginners Irish Dancing Classes for Adults:
Irish Dancing Classes for adult beginners will be held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties every Thursday 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. For more information contact Emily on 087 9261532.
