Glenties Notes 27th May 2009

Duffin / O’Leary Wedding
Congratulations to Grainne Duffin and Kieran O’Leary who were married on Friday 15th May 2009 in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties. A friend of the couple, Fr. Martin O’ Reilly officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Grainne is a daughter of Liam and Noreen Duffin, Station Road, Glenties and Kieran is a son of Pat and Michelle O’Leary, Greystones, Co. Wicklow. Her father gave the bride away and her sisters, Maria Neary and Anne Duffin and her friend Sinead Sharkey attended her. Eoghan O’ Sullivan was bestman. Brendan Mc Nally and Ben Steer were groomsmen. All are friends of the groom. Readings were by Peter Duffin, brother of the bride and Sheena O’ Leary, sister of the groom. Alan Mc Cafferty, Leona Sharkey, Joann O’ Shea- Brabazon, Suzanne Byrne and Deirdre Daly read Prayers of the Faithful. The mothers of the bride and groom, Noreen Duffin and Michelle O’Leary brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Carmel O’Reilly and Graham Harrison. The reception was held in Solis Lough Eske Castle, Donegal Town and the honeymoon was spent in Borneo.

First Holy Communion in Fintown
Congratulations Oisín to Mc Kelvey, Nathan Wright, Michael Boyle, Roisín Mc Devitt, Zoe Campbell and Amy Gibbon who received their First Holy Communion in the Church of St. Colmcille, Fintown on Saturday 16th May’09.

Dan Mc Dwyer
The sudden death took place on Friday 15th May 2009 in Letterkenny Hospital, of Dan Mc Dwyer, youngest son of Peggy and the late Columba, Kilraine, Glenties. His remains were brought to his mother’s home in Dr. Closkey Crescent, Glenties on Saturday evening and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Monday. Fr. Shane Gallagher, Glenties assisted by Fr. Seamus Gallagher, Lettermacaward concelebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by Dan’s brothers, Paddy and Columba. Other members of the family read Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’ Donnell and Ernan O’ Donnell. Burial took place in Kilraine Graveyard. Dan is survived by his mother, Peggy, brothers, Paddy, Alec, James and Columba, sisters, Ena, Peg, Deirdre, Trisha, Annie, Breege and Paula, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere is extended. A baby sister, Mary predeceased him.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the parents, Pricilla and Shane, brothers, Nathan, Tristan and twin brother Callum and extended family of seven months old Baby Dylan Mullen- Buchanan, Kilraine, Glenties, who died suddenly on Wednesday 20th May.

Sincere sympathy is extended to James Moore, Mill Road, Breege Brennan, Shallogans and Peter Moore, Maas, Glenties on the death of their sister, Teresa Lyons which took place recently in England; also to her other sisters, Rose and Mary and to all the relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife, family, mother, brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends of John Harkin, Carrick, (formerly of Strasallagh, Glenties) who died last week.

West Coast Cormorants Swimming Club
The Club will be holding their Annual Swimming Gala on Tuesday 2nd June in Ballyshannon Leisure Centre. All former and present members of the club are welcome to attend. There will be prizes and a great evening of fun. Call Bernie at 086 1005465 for further information. The bus will leave the Comprehensive School (top gate) at 4.30 p.m. and return at 8.15 p.m. approx.

Letterkenny Hospital Cancer Unit Draw
Draw will take place at a dance in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Sunday night 31st May 2009. There will be Raffles for Spot Prizes during the night. Admission is free so come along and support this very worthy cause.

Glenties Tidy Town C. E. S. FÁS
