Glenties Notes 27th October 2009

Gildea / Mc Bride Wedding
Ann Gildea and Declan Mc Bride were married in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 17th October 2009. Ann is a daughter of Gerry and the late Sarah Gildea, Straboy, Glenties and Declan is a son of Patrick and Ellen Mc Bride, Cranford. Fr. Pat Prendergast officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Her father gave the bride away and her friend, Evelyn Mc Manus and her sister- in-law, Sharon Gildea attended her. Shaun Mc Bride, brother of the groom was bestman and a friend, Kenneth Mc Corkell was groomsman. Ceara Casey was a flowergirl and Ryan Mc Bride was an usher. Readings were by Joseph and John Gildea, brothers of the bride. Packie Gildea, Aideen Mc Gettigan, Gerard Gildea, Jackie Boyle, Patrick Mc Bride and Marie Casey read Prayers of the Faithful. Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’ Donnell and Sinead Finn. The reception was held in The Milford Inn and the honeymoon is being spent in South Africa and Dubai.

New Arrival
Congratulations to Lisa and Stephen Coughlan, Narin Road, Glenties on the birth of their third child, (Fionn) a baby brother for Sean and Hayley.

Wedding Bells
Congratulations and best wishes to Brian Carr, Glenties and Marie Boyle, Rosbeg who were married in Malta on Thursday 22nd October 2009.

Naomh Conaill GAA Draw
The Draw which was to have taken place on Friday 16th October will now take place tomorrow Friday 30th October in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties.

Well Done
Well done to our Minor team who beat Bundoran on Saturday last in the Regional Final and good luck to them in the County League Semi-final.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to John, Mill Road, Leo, Main St. and Padraig Mc Loone, Straboy, Glenties on the death of their brother, Peter Mc Loone, Letterkenny which took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Wednesday 21st October; also to all the relatives and friends.

Mary Sweeney
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Saturday 17th October 2009 of Mary Sweeney, Mill Road, Glenties. Her remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Tuesday evening. Fr. Pat Prendergast celebrated Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning. Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and the Offertory Gifts were carried by family members. Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’ Donnell. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Mary’s husband, James Hugh predeceased her in 1992 and her sister, Kate died in England in August of this year. Two brothers also predeceased her. She is survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws other relatives, and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Mary (nee Jordan) was a native of Castlebar, Co. Mayo and went to America in her teens, where she lived until she and James Hugh, (from Gortnasillagh, Glenties) came back to Ireland in the 80s and built their new home on the Mill Road.

School Musical
The cast members of the upcoming School Musical ‘Les Miserable’ in the Comprehensive School are reminded that the next chorus calls take place on Wednesday 4th and Wednesday 25th November at 7.30 p.m. at the school. Anyone still interested in signing up must attend the next chorus call. In particular we are looking for male voices from the community. For information contact the school.
