Glenties Notes October 20th 2009

County Champions
Congratulations to our Minor team who won the County Final when they beat St. Eunan’s on Sunday last 18th October in Ballybofey. A large cavalcade of cars traveled home with them and bonfires blazed along the way. A big crowd was out to welcome them when they returned to the town.

Halloween Fancy Dress Ball
On Sunday 25th October the 11th Halloween Fancy Dress Ball takes place in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties. This event was set up 11 years ago by the Glenties Traders, as a fundraiser for the restoration of the Church Bell, so that it would ‘ring in’ the New Millennium. The next project was Christmas Lights for the town. The Glenties Halloween Ball has been getting bigger and better and very competitive, with groups and individuals trying to retain their winning titles. This year the format will be a little different, as it will start off with a Halloween Carnival at 8.30 p.m. and progress to the Highlands Hotel. Over €1,000 in cash prizes will be given out for the best individual and group costumes. Please support your Christmas Lights Fundraiser.

Wedding Bells
Congratulations to Ann Gildea, Straboy, Glenties and Declan Mc Bride, Milford who were married in Glenties on Saturday last.
