Glenties Notes on August 9th 2003

The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Friday 25th July 2003 of Jim Harkin, Stranaglough and formerly of Strasallagh, Glenties. His remains were brought to his home on Saturday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Monday morning. Fr. Patrick Prendergast, Fr. Eddie Gallagher and Canon Leo Moore concelebrated Requiem Mass. Readings and Psalm were read by Jim’s grandchildren, Terence and Michael Gillavan and Michelle Sharman. Music was by Sr. Immaculata on the organ. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Jim is survived by his wife, Nan, daughters, Mary, Rose and Barbara, sons, John, Patsy, Tommy and Gerry, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. He was predeceased by three daughters, Kathleen, Annie and Ita and one son, James, four sisters, Annie, Bridget, Bella and Kathleen and was the last surviving member of the family of James and Mary Harkin, Strasallagh, Glenties.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Kitty Ward, Tievedeevan, Fintown who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Tuesday 29th July 2003. Her remains were brought to her home later that day and burial took place on Thursday after Requiem Mass in St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Seamus Mc Dermott, formerly of Edeninfagh, Glenties who died in Toronto, Canada last week. His remains are due home this week.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Bella Mc Gill, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties on the death of her sister, Bried Commiskey, which took place in Monaghan on Saturday last.

Mass will be celebrated in Edeninfagh Graveyard next Sunday 10th August at 3.00p.m.

Mass will be celebrated in the Old Graveyard on the Glen Road next Monday evening 11th August at 7.00p.m.
