Glenties Notes on December 3rd 2005

Congratulations to Martine Melly, daughter of Martin and Noreen Melly, Letterilly, Glenties who graduated recently from St. Patrick’s College, Dublin with a Bachelor of Education Degree. Martine was past pupil of Kilkenny National School and St. Columba’s Comprehensive School, Glenties. She is currently teaching in Dublin.

Congratulations to Dermot Campbell, a student in U.C.G. who was recently awarded the Denis Phelan Award and Scholarship for 1st place in Ireland in Electronic Engineering by Chancellor Dr. Garrett Fitzgerald, in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin. He is a son of Con and Kathleen Campbell, Lacklea, Glenties and is currently studying for his PhD. in U.C.G.

Congratulations to Siobhan Mc Elhinney, Station Road, Glenties and Pat Browne, Ballybofey, who were married in Glenties on Friday last.

Congratulations to Patricia and Sean Campbell, Meenahalla on the birth last week of their third child, a baby sister for Jonathon and Danielle.

There will be a Christmas Craft Fair in the Community Centre, Glenties on Saturday 3rd December from 12 noon until 8.00p.m. with a large number of traders, and a wide range of items to choose from. These include – Jewellery, Handmade Soaps, Knitwear, Cosmetics, Home Baking, Handmade Xmas Cards, Christmas Wreaths and Logs, Handmade Candles, Mirrors, Art, Pottery, Photography, Hosiery, Flowers, Toys, Christmas Lights and Decorations, etc. So come along and you might find those presents you have yet to get.

Tonight Thursday 1st December at 8.00p.m. a Table Quiz is being held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties in aid of St. Columba’s Comprehensive School Student & Staff Pilgrimage to Medjugorje in association with the Orphanage Charity in Medjugorje. Tables of Four – E 40. Refreshments will be served. Please support this worthwhile event.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Willie Mc Nelis, Narin Road, Breid Gannon, Narin Road, Sadie Herrity, Straboy, Glenties and Marisa Campbell, Mill Road, Glenties and England on the death in England recently of their sister Mary Bella Gannon and to all the relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Frank Gallagher (Tailor), Main St. Glenties, who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Sunday last.
