Glenties Notes on January 16th 2003
The death took place at his home, on Monday 6thJanuary 2003 of Con Brennan, Shallogans. His remains were brought to St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown on Wednesday morning. Members of the local Fianna Fail Cumann formed a Guard of Honour from the Co-op. in Fintown to the Church. Fr. Kevin Gillespie assisted by Fr. Padraig Ó Bhaoill, Fr. John Joe Duffy, Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir, and Canon Leo Moore celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by Con’s son, Joseph and daughter, Siobhan. Daughter Anne, sons, Declan, Derek, Patrick Andrew and niece Fidelma Gallagher read Prayers of the Faithful. Grandsons, Ciarán and Dermot Brennan, daughter Mary Teresa and nephew/godson Eamonn Moore brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music was by the local choir. Con’s coffin was carried from the Church to the adjoining graveyard by his four sons and nephews, Gerard Moore and Gerard Donnelly and led by his cousin, John Mc Dermott on the bagpipes. The graveside oration was given by Pat the Cope Gallagher, T.D. Minister of State, Department of Environment & Local Government. Con is survived by his wife, Breege, daughters, Anne, Mary Teresa and Siobhan, sons, Joseph, Declan, Derek and Patrick Andrew, sister, Susan Mc Gurrin, New York, daughter-in-law, Una, son-in-law, Sean Mc Mahon, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His brother Patrick and sister, Mary Gallagher and a baby brother, Andrew predeceased him.
The death took place at his home, on Thursday 2nd January 2003 of Peter Shovlin, Kilraine. His remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday morning. Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by grandchildren, Sarah and Peter Shovlin. Grandsons, Daniel and Micheál Shovlin, son Francis and granddaughter, Eimear Mc Bride read Prayers of the Faithful. Peter’s daughter, Mary, read a Reflection. Singing was by Anne Bonner and Grace Shovlin, accompanied by Sr. Immaculata on the organ. Burial took place in Kilraine graveyard. Peter’s wife, Annie predeceased him twenty seven years ago. His brothers, Danny, Frank and Hughie also predeceased him. He is survived by sons, Francis, England, Peter, Michael, Charles, Kilraine, daughters, Eileen Carmody, Kerry, Mary Mc Bride, Kildare, sister, Marion Singleton, Manorcunningham, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, Eileen Kennedy, Kilraine, Mother Aquinas, Co. Laois, other relatives and many friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Francie Gildea, Ard Patrick, and formerly of Mill Road, Glenties, who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Saturday 11th January 2003.
