Glenties Notes on May 19th 2005

St. Connell’s Museum, Glenties is doing research on The Mc Devitt Institute, from its foundation to its close and would be grateful for any information or photographs. All photographs etc. will be copied and returned. Telephone 086 – 3945389 or call to the Museum. Opening hours are 10.00a.m. – 4.30p.m. Monday – Saturday.

Brendan Mc Dyer, who is halfway through his 800k walk in aid of Scoil Mhuire Gym, is in good form and sends his regards to all at home. He hopes to be back in Glenties the weekend of 27th May. A welcome home party is planned and everyone is welcome. There are sponsor sheets around the town and the number of the account in the Bank of Ireland is 33949597. If anyone out there is interested in fund – raising for the Scoil Mhuire New Gym please contact a committee member.

Congratulations and best wishes to Michael Shovlin, Kilraine, Glenties and Rosemary Dunnion, Ardara, who were married in Ardara on Saturday last.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Aggie Quinn, Killybegs, who died on Monday 9th May 2005. Aggie, a native of Mullinamina, Glenties, lived with her late husband Neil and family at Mill Road, Glenties before moving to Killybegs.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mary Breslin and Family, Ardconnell, Glenties and all the relatives and friends of Raymond Breslin who died suddenly in Manchester on Sunday 15th May 2005.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Annie Gallagher, Derries, Glenties on the death of her sister-in-law, Celine Duggan, Falcarragh last week.

Congratulations to Noreen (nee Rodgers) and Ciaran Kelly, Derries, Glenties on the birth recently of their second child, a baby brother (Cian) for Jack.

Congratulations to Evelyn and Alan Murchan, Killybegs on the birth recently of their first child, a baby girl named Gianna. Evelyn is a daughter of Cormac and Maureen Quinn, The Glen Tavern, Greenans, Glenties.

Enrolment for Scoil Mhuire National School takes place on Wednesday 25th May between 1.30p.m. and 3.00p.m. Parents intending to send their children to the school in September 2005 may enrol on that day. Please ensure you bring the child’s Birth Certificate with you. Copies will be made and the originals will be returned. Members of staff will be present to provide all necessary information and answer any relevant queries. Parents are encouraged to bring their child / children with them on the day.
