Glenties Notes on May 24th 2000

JUNIOR YOUTH CLUB
The Junior Youth Club will be making their annual tour this Sunday 28th May to Dunlewey Lakeside Centre. The bus will leave from the Community Centre at 12.30pm. The cost of the trip is £7.00 per person. Many thanks to all the parents who have supported the Youth Club throughtout the year. 

UNDER-14’S
Congratulations to the Naomh Chonaill U-14 team and their managers; Connie Doherty, Michael Quinn, and Terance Gallagher who won the County Final of Féile Peile na nÓg last Saturday in Donegal Town. They had an impressive victory over Glenfin. The team will now go on to represent County Donegal in the National Finals of Féile Peile na nÓg, where they will compete against the other 31 counties of Ireland. This will be held in Dublin on June 30th, July 1st, July 2nd, July 3rd. and this is one of the big annual events in the GAA calender. 

WALK
A walk is organised for Thursday 1st June, leaving the Community Centre at 7.30pm. Wear comfortable boots or runners and come along and join us. Everyone is welcome. The walk will be approx. 2 hous long.

TUG-O-WAR
Congratulations to the Glen Tug-O-War team who came 1st in the Ulster Tug-O-War Competition which was held in Cavan last Sunday.

LATE BERNIE GILDEA
The death took place recently of Bernie Gildea, Bunnyconlon, Co. Mayo(formally from Straboy, Glenties.)He was a retired Sergent of the Garda Siochana. He is survived by his wife Ann, daughter Vanessa, son Barry, his sister Rose Solly (Glenties), brothers, Sean (Letterkenny)and Tony (London)and all his relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

LATE MARY BENNETT
The death took place recently of Mary Bennett,Donegal Town and formally Mary Gallagher, Ard Connell,Glenties. She died in Letterkenny General Hospital after a short illness. Following Mass in the Four Masters Church in Donegal she was buried in Killymard Cemetery. She is survived by her sons Connie (postman in Glenties)and Gerry (Donegal) her daughter Mary Teresa (Donegal),her sister Teresa and brother Hugh Gallagher, Ard Connell, Glenties to whom sincere sympathy is extended. She was predeceased by her husband Patsy, her brothers Con and Oliver sometime ago.

90th BIRTHDAY
Congratulations to Mary Craig, Buncrobug, Glenties who celebrated her 90th birthday recently. 

50th ANNIVERSARY
Congratulations to Augustine and Mamie Gallagher, Meenacahan, Inver,(parents of Olive McKelvey, Station Road) who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently.
