Glenties Notes on November 7th 2002

Frank O’ Donnell, son of Paddy and Kathleen O’ Donnell, Ardconnell, Glenties and Pindy Brad, daughter of Harpal Singh and Surjit Kaur Brad, Glasgow celebrated their marriage in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 26th October 2002. Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir C.C. Glenties officiated, included everyone and made all feel very welcome. The Ceremony was further enhanced by the music and singing, which was beautifully performed by members of the Folk Choir and Cornelius Ward, cousin of the groom. Her brother, Bel gave the bride away and her sister-in-law, Lynn, attended her. Donal Sweeney, friend of the groom was bestman. Readings were by the bride’s brother, Bel and Ann, sister of the groom. Prayers of the Faithful were read by Harpreet and Kiran, nieces of the bride and Namdev and Blake, nephews of the bride. Lynn and Kathleen, mother of the groom, brought the Gifts to the Altar. Paddy, father of the groom assisted as Eucharistic Minister. A very enjoyable reception was held in The Lake House Hotel, Portnoo and the honeymoon is being spent in South Africa. A great weekend was had by all, particularly the Brad family and friends, many of whom were visiting Glenties for the first, but not the last time.

On Saturday 26th October 2002 Mary Rose Campbell and Brian O’ Dea were married in the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh, Glenties. Fr. Patrick Prendergast officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Mary Rose is a daughter of Peter and Susan Campbell, Silverhill, Glenties and Brian is a son of P.J. and Breid O’Dea, Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare. Her father gave the bride away and her sister, Siobhan Morrow and Lorraine O’Dea, sister of the groom, attended her. Colm O’Dea, brother of the groom was bestman and Cathal Campbell, brother of the bride was groomsman. Siobhan Campbell O’Dea was flowergirl and Liam Mc Kever was pageboy. Readings were by Grainne Campbell, sister of the bride and Grainne Donnellan, friend of the groom. Eileen Campbell, Shannon Mc Kever, Mary Clare Linnane, Siobhan and Catherine Donnellan read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties and the honeymoon is being spent in Rome.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Connie Mc Grath, Meenahalla, Glenties, on the death in Doncaster, England of his brother Michael John, which took place on Sunday 27th October 2002.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Annie Gallagher, The Mines, Glenties, who died on Sunday 3rd November.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Anne Morrow, Main Street, Conal Mc Devitt. Station Road, Glenties and all the Mc Devitt family, on the death of their aunt, which took place in Roscrea on Saturday 2nd November 2002.
