Glenties Notes on October 30th 2003

The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Monday 20th October 2003 of John Connaghan Lacklea, Glenties. His remains were brought to his home later that day and to the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh on Wednesday morning. Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir, C.C. Glenties assisted by Fr. Denis Quinn, P.P. Falcarragh and Fr. Kevin Gillespie, C.C. Fintown celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by Ann and Mary Brown, granddaughters of the deceased. Burial took place in Edeninfagh Graveyard. John is survived by his wife Kathleen, son, Jimmy and daughter, Mary Kate, brother, Peter, sister, Annie, grandchildren, son-in-law, nephew, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Two brothers, Charlie and Hughie and one sister, Bridget predeceased him.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Dermot Mc Hugh, Tullyhoniver and Eileen Gallagher, The Mines, on the death of their mother Peggy Mc Hugh, Frosses, which took place in Sligo Hospital on Sunday 19th October 2003.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Dinny Mc Ginty Millside, Fintown, who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Saturday 25th October 2003 and was buried in Fintown Graveyard after Requiem Mass on Monday.

Annie Donoghue, Coothhill, Co. Cavan died on Monday 20th October 2003 and burial took place on Wednesday. Annie, nee Gallagher from Greenans, Glenties was a teacher and taught Archbishop Sean Brady at National School. Two sons and one daughter, a brother and sister, Peter Gallagher and Cassie Boyle in Scotland and another sister Mary Doherty in Ramelton survive her. Her husband Hugh, two brothers, Eddie and Danny and three sisters, Grace, Bridget and Cassie predeceased her. Sincere sympathy is extended to all her relatives and friends. Her sons, Donal and Bernard were well known Gaelic footballers and played for Cavan and for Ulster.

Congratulations to Derek Gillespie, Braade, Kincasslagh, who recently graduated from the University of Limerick with first class honours in his Bachelor of Engineering-Electronic degree. Derek is a son of Tony and Maureen Gillespie, Braade, Kincasslagh. Maureen (nee Mc Guigan) is from Ardconnell, Glenties).

Congratulations to Lucille Ward, Buncrubog, Glenties and John Kelly, Monaghan, who were married in Glenfin on Saturday last.
