The club have entered the following Ulster competitions: Jimmy Bruen: Ballybofey & Stranorlar, May 1st; Fred Daly: v Omagh; Ulster Cup, v Bushfoot; Pierce Purcell: Enniskillen, May 8th; Mixed Foursomes: Dunfanaghy, May 15; Junior Cup: Letterkenny, May 29th; Ulster Fourball v Bundoran.

The passing of Joseph O’Boyle last weekend saddened all those who had the privilege of playing or conversing with a genial gentleman of the highest order. A past captain of the Kilcar-Glen Golf Society and a veteran of Minor League, Joseph enjoyed his golf as much as anyone, and was competitive to boot. His hole-in-one at the 16th in the mid-nineties was a highlight, as was his success in the McElhinney’s Stores event in 1998. Just eight months ago, I wrote of his last great performance, an unbelievable score of 47 points in the Wednesday Open. We sympathise with his wife Eithne, his family and all his relatives and friends on their great loss.

Connell Gillespie won the latest Wednesday Open with 37 points to leave a strong field marvelling at his consistency. Even Paddy Beag was impressed! Adrian Maguire had two points more to spare on Sunday when winning the stableford competition. Paddy B. Boyle enjoyed another strong showing in finishing second.
