ORDINATION
Congratulations and best wishes to Rev. Adrian Gavigan who was ordained to the priesthood last Sunday 2nd July 2000 by Bishop Philip Boyce in St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny. Adrian is a son of Connell and Mary Ellen Gavigan, Glen Road, Glenties and grandson of Teresa and the late Columba Gallagher, Drimnasillagh, Glenties. His father is a native of Ardara parish. Fr. Adrian came home to a great welcome with the town and Station and Glen Roads decorated with buntings, flags and banners. Bonfires blazed from Meenaroy to greet the new Priest. Fintown was also decorated, and a large crowd gathered to meet him there as well as in Glenties. The Ardaghy Band led him up the town to the platform erected on the Chapel Brae near his home.

WEDDING
Evelyn Quinn and Alan Murchan were married in the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh on 17th June 2000. Evelyn is a daughter of Cormac and Maureen Quinn, Greenans, Glenties and Alan is a son of Carmel and the late Jack Murchan, Conlin, Killybegs. The bride’s brother, Fr. Denis Quinn officiated and was the chief celebrant of the Nuptial Mass. Fr. Francis Mc Loone, Fr. John Gallagher (cousins), Fr. Patrick Prendergast, Glenties and Fr. Lorcan Sharkey, Killybegs assisted him. Her father gave the bride away and she was attended by her sisters. Mary Quinn and Annie Mc Kenna. Martin Murchan, brother of the groom was bestman and his friend, Declan Melly, was groomsman. Readings were by Geraldine Boyle, sister of the groom and Annette Breslin, cousin of the bride. Annie Gallagher, cousin and Patrick Breslin, friend of the bride, read prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Hyland Central Hotel, Donegal Town and the honeymoon was spent in Cyprus.

THE LATE C. BONNER
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital, on Monday 26th June 2000 of Charlie Bonner, Straboy, Glenties. His remains were brought to his home later that day and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Wednesday. Fr. Patrick Prendergast, P.P. Glenties celebrated requiem Mass. Readings were by grandson, Philip O’Donnell and granddaughter, Aisling Bonner. Mark, Kieran and Kathleen Bonner grandsons and granddaughter, read Prayers of the Faithful. Another granddaughter, Anita Breslin read a Reflection. The Gifts were brought to the Altar by his niece and nephew, Kathleen Bonner and Stephen Boyle. Singing was by Pauline Glackin accompanied by Joe Rodgers. Burial took place in the New Cemetery.

Originally from Derryloughan, Charlie was the last of his family. His brother John, Ardconnell and sister, Angela Boyle, Scotland, predeceased him. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife, Maggie, sons, Neily, Straboy, John, England, daughters, Mary O’Donnell, Dungloe, Anne Breslin, England, Peggy Mc Hugh, Wales, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

SYMPATHY
Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family of Connell Keeney, Tullyhoniver, who died last Thursday, 29th June 2000.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family of Neil Breslin, Glen Road, Glenties who died suddenly on Monday 3rd July 2000.

PLAYSCHOOL SUMMER CAMP

The cost per week is £15 Monday – Friday. First Week 24th July – 28th July, Second Week 31st July – 4th August. Ages 3 years – 7 years. Closing date 15th July.

EXHIBITION
An Exhibition of Bogwood Sculpture is presently taking place at Ardara Arts Resource Centre. It opened on Saturday 1st July and will continue until July 22nd. On view are outstanding sculptures by local sculptor, Laurence Herron. There is also a selection of work by local young artists from Ardara and Glenties. Admission is free. Everyone Welcome.

TUG-O-WAR
Congratulations once again to the Glen Tug-O-War team who won the 720 kilo All-Ireland Division 4 Competition in Bunclody, Co. Wexford on Sunday last.

CONGRATS
Congratulations to the U/14 team who represented the County at Féile Peile na Óg in Dublin last weekend.
Congratulations also to the U/12 team who are through to the County B Final.
