Glenties Notes 14th April 2011

The Late Nan Craig
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Thursday 31st March 2011 of Nan Craig, Church Road, Glenties. Her Remains were brought home later that day and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday. Fr. Shane Gallagher C.C. Glenties celebrated Requiem Mass at 11.00 a.m. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Pat and John F. O’Donnell and Anne and Evan Bonner. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Nan is survived by sons, John, his wife Fiona, Frankie, his wife Ciara, son-in-law, Herbert Roog, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. She was predeceased by her husband Benny in 1993 and her daughter Breege Roog in 2009. Her sisters, Nellie, Margaret and Mary Bridget, brothers, Francie, James and Mick also predeceased her. Nan was the last surviving member of the family of Francie and Bridget Boyle, Loughfad, Portnoo.

Bingo
Winners at the Bingo on Tuesday 5th April were – Teresa Mc Kelvey and Marian Davidson won € 135 each. Bridie Gallagher, Killybegs, Annie Deane, Agnes Brown, Dim Melly, Bella Boyle and Sally Mc Hugh won € 100 each. Nellie Doherty, Mary Ward, Vera Breslin, Nellie Doherty, Angela Lowther, Charles Mc Carron, Ann O’ Donnell, Margaret Breslin, Burtonport, Donal Brennan, Faye Moore, Kathleen Mc Shea, Bernie Fitzpatrick, Glen Road, Paddy Mc Gill, Willie Mc Nelis and Patricia Molloy won € 50 each. James Quinn, Faye Moore and Paddy Mc Gill won € 35 each. Margaret Murray, Sally Mc Hugh, Rosaleen Boyle and Paula Hegarty won € 25 each.

Confirmations
Congratulations to the 72 boys and girls who received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Philip Boyce on Sunday last in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties

Mountain Rescue Table Quiz
A Table Quiz in aid of Mountain Rescue will take place in The Glen Tavern on Friday 15th April at 9.00 p.m. Tables of four. All welcome, so come along, have a fun night out and support this very worthy cause.

Collection
The Irish Kidney Association Church Gate Collection will take place next Weekend.

Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club
Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club will be running a Roadside Repair Night in the Community Centre, Glenties on Good Friday 22nd April at 8 p.m. It will include demonstrations on fixing punctures and general bike maintenance, so bring your bike along.

Monster Easter Bingo
Monster Easter Bingo will take place in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 26th April, Lines – € 100, Houses € 300 and Jackpot € 2000. Books – Single € 20, Double € 30 and Jackpot Sheets € 5. Usual Bingo with ‘Plenty of Easter Prizes’ on Tuesday 19th April.
