The Late Finola McMahon Nee Boyce:
The death took place in Sligo Hospital on Monday 13th April 2015 of Finola McMahon, Old Golf Course Road, Donegal Town. Burial took place on Thursday. She is survived by one daughter, Helen, four sisters, Mary, Anne, Pauline McGill, Glenties, and Regina and one brother, Kieran, aunt, Nuala, uncle, Seamus, nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband, Maurice, died in 2009 and her brother, Aidan died in 2013.

The Late Danny McGill:
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital, on Friday 17th April 2015, of Danny Mc Gill, Glen Road, Glenties, (native of Ardara). His Remains were taken home later that day and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday. Burial took place in New Graveyard, Glenties, after Requiem Mass at 3 p.m. Danny is survived by his wife, Rose, daughters, Mary, Breid, Anne-Edel and Carmel, sons, Dinny and Kevin, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Brendan and Brenda Mc Geehan, Fintown, on the death of their baby daughter, Leah, which took place on Thursday 16th April 2015, just two years old; also to Leah’s grandparents, uncles, aunts and all other relatives and friends.

Cash 4 Clobber Collection:
Scoil Mhuire is having another ‘Cash 4 Clobber Collection’ on Friday 1st May. We accept bags of men’s, women’s, & children’s clothing, paired shoes, handbags, belts, bed linen, (no duvets or pillows) curtains etc. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support with our collections in the past and we look forward to another successful collection on the 1st May. Feel free to drop your bag(s) into the school anytime prior to the collection.

First Holy Communion:
First Holy for the children of St. Riaghan’s Drimnacrosh KilkennyN.S., and Scoil Mhuire, will take place in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties, at 11.00 a.m. this Saturday 25th April.

Party for the First Holy Communion Children:
The Annual Party for The First Holy Communion Children, their families and guests, will be held in the Community Centre after the Mass. Refreshments will be served, for everyone attending. All Donations would be gratefully appreciated to help cover costs.

The Late John Gallagher:
The death took place, at his home, on Wednesday 25th March 2015 of John Gallagher, (better known as John Pat Owen), Strasallagh, Glenties. Requiem Mass was celebrated by John’s nephew, Fr. Francis Mc Loone, assisted by Fr. Denis Quinn, nephew of John’s wife, Mary Josephine, and Fr. Gerard Cunningham in The Church of The Holy Family, Edeninfagh, Glenties on Friday and burial took place afterwards in The New Graveyard, Glenties. John is survived by his wife, Mary Josephine, one son, Pat, two daughters, Isobel and Annie, one sister, Kathleen, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, – other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Three brothers, Dan, Cornelius and Frank and five sisters, Mary B., Maggie, Josephine, Bella and Annie T., predeceased him. John would have been 99 in June.

Easter Charity Cycle:
Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club will host the Annual Easter Charity Cycle and Run on Monday 6th April. Registration will take place at 10 a.m., in the Glenties Day Care Centre, with refreshments served afterwards. Proceeds in aid of the Glenties Foróige, The HubYouth Centre, and Glenties Community Playgroup. Distances are 30 k or 60 k cycle, 5 k run / walk, or Duathlon 5 k run & 30 k cycle. The Late Brendan Gallagher:
The death of Brendan Gallagher, Ard Connell, Glenties, took place at his home on Wednesday 18th February 2015. His Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday morning. Fr. Pat Prendergast celebrated Requiem Mass and burial took place afterwards in the New Graveyard. Brendan is survived by one brother, Patsy, and one niece, Laura and her husband, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His sister Mary and her husband Michael Kelly predeceased him.

Day Centre Dinner Dance:

The Late Danny Kennedy:
The death place in Kent, England of Danny Kennedy, formerly of Gortnamucklagh, Glenties. His Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday 13th February and burial took place in the New Graveyard, after Requiem Mass, celebrated by Fr. Gerard Cunningham, assisted by Fr. Pat Prendergast on Saturday 14th. Fr. Gerard is a nephew of Danny’s late wife, Rosie, who predeceased him 25 years ago. Danny is survived by two daughters, Bridie and Una, one son Joseph and his wife, Marie, grandson, Kieran, brother, Hugh, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. His sister, Bridie and brother Paddy also predeceased him.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Margaret Rodger and family, Main St. Glenties, on the death of Margaret’s sister, Teresa Coyle, Brockagh, which took place recently.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, friends and relatives of Hugh Mc Devitt, Largnalarkin, who died recently and was buried after Requiem Mass in St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown in the adjoining Graveyard.

Message from Maria Rafferty – ‘Shop & Share, Main Street, Glenties supports a Street Children Centre in Jimma called Semaria. We pay the rent; provide food and shelter, clothing and wages, for the workers who care for the children. Before Christmas our children were forced to move from the house they were renting and could only find alternative accommodation in a bigger more expensive one. However thanks to the generosity of the people of Glenties & Edeninfagh Parish, and our other supporters, we were able to find the money required for a half year’s rent. The Christmas story saw Mary and Joseph unable to find a place, so how apt is it that our Crib money this year provided a home for very underprivileged street children. Heartfelt gratitude and prayers flow continuously to us from Ethiopia. Please continue this valuable support and come visit us in the shop’ From Maria and the Team.

Mad MarchHareMountain Bike Event:
Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club is pleased to announce that on Sunday 1st March the Mad March Hare Mountain Bike Event makes its welcome return to the hills of Glenties!! The participants have to ride down the steps beside the Garda station in Glenties to start this event in style. The pace will then be controlled up the Glen of Glenties road for three and a half miles. From this point they’re on their own as they turn off the road and start climbing the mountain, a climb sure to make the riders glad when they have reached the top. But there’s no time to relax as they start the first bit of the descent. For the next two miles the riders will have to cross narrow wooden bridges, boardwalk, muddy holes if they can find them, even bigger muddy holes without looking for them, more boardwalk and a final descent guaranteed to put a grin on anyone’s face, if they can hang on. Participants can either do one or two laps, finishing down the steps at the Garda station. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Entry is open to everyone over the age of 14 years with their own bike. If you don’t want to participate come and watch, or maybe help out with marshalling. Dinner Dance:
Valentine’s Night Gala Dinner & Dance will be held in the Highlands Hotel on Saturday 14th February. Dinner at 8 p.m. sharp. Music by Street Life. Tickets €35. Champagne Reception at 7.30 p.m. on arrival. Proceeds in aid of Glenties Day Care Centre.

Clothing Collection For Refugees:
You are asked to bring any spare clothes, shoes, belts, handbags to the Community Centre, Glenties next Sunday 8th February between 11a.m. and 1 p.m. All funds raised in this county-wide Clothing Collection will go to “Homes from Donegal”, a charity building homes in the Central African Republic for some of the one million refugees displaced by war there. Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Vera Breslin, Ard Patrick, Glenties on the death in Letterkenny Hospital, after an illness, on Wednesday 28th January 2015 of her youngest son, Laurence, Mountcharles; also to his wife Louise, brothers, Martin and Pascal, sister, Fiona, nephews, nieces, in-laws and all other relatives and friends.

The Late Bried Duffy:
The death took place in Arch View Nursing Home on Friday 30th January 2015 of Bried Duffy (nee Gallagher), Glenties. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties by Fr. Pat Prendergast on Sunday at 11 a.m. Burial took place afterwards in the New Graveyard. Bried is survived by three sisters, Mary Melly, Anna Mc Dyre and Celine Carr, one brother, Bernie Gallagher, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband, Packie, a native of Lettermacaward, predeceased her fourteen years ago.
