Glenties Notes 16th October 2007

On Saturday 29th September Cathal Campbell and Denise Molloy were married in The Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh.  Fr. Paul Gallagher officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass.  Cathal is a son of Peter and Susan Campbell, Silverhill, Glenties and Denise is a daughter of Martin and Teresa Molloy, Fintown.  Her father gave the bride away and her friends, Clare Breslin, Aisling Connaghan and Sinead Mc Monagle attended her.  Declan Bonner was bestman and Liam Mc Keever and Brian O’ Dea were groomsmen.  Nicole Morrow, niece of the groom was a flowergirl and Mark O’Hara, nephew of the groom was pageboy.  Readings were by Stephen Molloy, brother of the bride and Siobhan Morrow, sister of the groom.  Denise’s brothers, John, Fergus and Joe, Cathal’s sister Eileen, his niece, Mary and nephew, Liam read Prayers of the Faithful. The Gifts were brought to the Altar by Teresa, mother of the bride and Mary Rose O’Dea, sister of the groom.  Music and singing was by Eunan Mc Intyre.  The reception was held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties and the honeymoon was spent in New York, Las Vegas and Florida.

Mark Bonner and Andrena O ‘Donnell were married on Thursday 4th October 2007 in St. Barbara’s Church, Valetta, Malta.  Fr. Charles Carrabett officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass.  Mark is a son of Martin and Mary, Glen Road, Glenties and Andrena is a daughter of Noel and Mary, Belcruit and Dungloe.  The bride was given away by her friend, Nick Wormald and she was attended by her sister, Eilish O’Donnell and her friends, Edel Harvey and Diane Ferry.  Mark’s brother Stephen was bestman and his friends, Douglas Gallagher and Enda Mc Guigan were groomsmen.  Emma Bonner was a flowergirl and Jamie and Shaun O’Donnell were pageboys.  Readings were by Marie Bonner, sister of the groom and Evelyn Wormald, friend of the bride.  John and Roisin Bonner, and Naomi Harvey read Prayers of the Faithful.  The groom’s mother Mary and Evelyn Wormald brought the Gifts to the Altar.  The reception was held in Westin Hotel, St. Julians.

Congratulations to Naomh Conaill minor team who won the League Final when they beat Cloughaneely in Convoy on Sunday.  Well done lads!

Next Saturday 20th October there will be a Charity Car Wash in Glenties Town from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  All donations will go towards Third World Aid in Peru and Ethiopia.

The Annual General Meeting of the Tidy Towns Committee takes place on Monday 22nd October at 9 p.m. in the Community Centre.

There will be a meeting of the Glenties Parish Council on Thursday 18th October at 9.00p.m. in the Community Centre.  Everyone is welcome.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Ciara Craig, Naomh Conaill Close, Glenties on the death recently in Dungloe Hospital of her father, Brian O’Hagan.

A night of Fashion and Entertainment will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday 25th October, in the Limelight, Glenties in aid of the New Well Women’s Clinic, Letterkenny.  Mr. Noel Cunningham is MC for the night.  Among the artists taking part in the entertainment will be Greene Rising, Erin’s Own and the Laughlin Sisters.  Fashion is from Mc Elhinney’s Men’s Department, Ballybofey and Verve, Donegal Town.  Admission is € 20 and this includes a wine and cheese reception.  Please support this worthy cause.
